Capital City is the official capital of New Sienna, an independent nation. The now seven boroughs were once all independent townships. Over the years, Capital City grew from a small island town, to one of the largest metropolitan areas in the country. Each borough is unique with its own community of citizens from all walks of life. We invite you to explore Capital City for yourself!

Capital Island

What once began as a small island community, in the middle of A Great Lake, has grown into the tiny beating heart of the entire nation. The decisions made on Capital Island extend far beyond the borders of Capital City, and have great influence on the world. Locally however, citizens look towards Capital Island as the center of all government, including the executive, legislative and judicial branches. The Capital City Gifted Academy is also housed on Capital Island, where the city’s brightest and most talented students study and grow. Capital Island is a great area to explore local government and historic landmarks.

New Arkton

One of the three boroughs at the center of Capital City, New Arkton is home to the major business and commerce district. This borough is where you will find the tallest buildings and biggest companies. Many visitors choose to stay in one of New Arkton’s swanky hotels and dine at the finest of restaurants. Sports lovers can also see the bears play at the walnut street stadium. Fast paced and very expensive, this area is certainly not for those looking for quiet and relaxation. But if excitement and luxury are your goal, New Arkton is the place for you!

Clopton

Somewhere between “City” and “Country,” Clopton is the best of both worlds. Just across the river from New Arkton, the borough has its fair share of commerce and enterprise. However it moves at a slightly slower pace. As you head west towards Sugarland, you can slowly see your surroundings change from the urban to suburban, then downright country. It is a great place to visit and see all the sights of the surrounding burroughs. In Clopton, you can have your choice of fancy hotels, or a quiet country Bed & Breakfast. You can also see the cougars play at the Broxby stadium. Visit Clopton today for the best of country and city living.

Collinsville

Though Collinsville may not be first on the list of tourist attractions, it is home to many of Capital City’s hardest working citizens. A blue collar borough, the residents of Collinsville put in long hours every day working to make a better life for their families. You won’t find fancy hotels and restaurants here, as Collinsville is more of a residential area. However the Capital City Industrial Park can be found on the South East side of this borough, hence the concentration of blue collar workers. The crime rate of Collinsville is higher than surrounding areas, so avoid venturing out at night if you can help it. But if you’re in search of down to earth people, and working class living, Collinsville will be right up your alley.

Sunnyside

They say “It’s always Sunny in Sunnyside.” We believe it to be true, at leasT most of the time. An easy going community, Sunnyside is a haven for families and retirees. With lots of open land and family friendly neighborhoods, there’s not much excitement to be found here. But the residents of Sunnyside are happy to call it home. Super safe and slow-paced, this area is a far cry from the hustle and bustle of New Arkton. If you decide to pay this borough a visit, you’ll receive a warm welcome with quiet times and lots of sunny smiles.

Sugarland

Sugarland earned its sweet namesake by being home to Capital Sugar Mill. The Mill has been operating for over 100 years now and is a major contributor to the economic success of Capital City. Beyond the sugar mill, Sugarland is full of family and commercial farms. These farms provide food for the entire city, and beyond. With rich and fertile lands, some of these farms have been owned by the same families for generations. Capital City is thankful for the proud yet humble farmers of Sugarland. This is perfect borough to visit if you’re a fan of nature, fresh food and country livin

Hampton Heights

If affluence is your cup of tea, then look no further than the Hampton Heights. Here you will find the illustrious and at times, ostentatious, homes of Capital City’s most elite families. This is where you can find generations of wealth often referred to as “Old Money.” There is no shortage of grand estates here, so sightseeing may seem like a great option. But be advised, most estates are gated, so you may not see many of the fancy homes up close. The Heights are also home to our our most prestigious university and relaxing beaches. Be sure to pay Hampton Heights a visit for old world charm and a taste of the finer things in life.

Las Gracias

If you’re ready to sample the spice of life, Las Gracias is your perfect destination. A peninsula filled with pristine beaches, this borough is sure to bring both fun and relaxation to your life. Beach life and luxury permeate the culture of Las Gracias. This is where you can find the exciting movers and shakers in search of good times. Las Gracias is also home to “The Golden Green Hills,” a luxurious community of movie stars, musicians and hip trendsetters. Visitors flock to Las Gracias to visit the Theater District and Crescent Studios, one of the most successful film studios in the world. If you’re a fan of beaches, fine food, fun and celebrities, Las Gracias should top your lis

Who are the Royals?

Before “New Sienna” there was “Sienna”

All citizens of New Sienna are familiar with the royals. To an even greater extent, there are very few in the modern civilized world who have not heard about the Royals of New Sienna and all their dramatic feuds and conquests.

One cannot speak on the history of the nation of New Sienna without mentioning the names of our Royal Families. For it is they who founded this country as we know it today. The NNS (Nation of New Sienna) was birthed from the bravery of twelve families who stood up against tyranny to establish a new nation. Or at least that’s how the story goes.

The premise of this new nation was a noble one, or at least it seemed so. However there are many that would argue the establishment of The NNS to be self-serving at best – and utterly selfish and destructive at worst.

Salamalan Tribal Legacy

There was a time when this land was all run and owned by the Salamalan tribe.
They prospered as a people and became renowned across the world as skilled craftsmen and traders. Their mercantile endeavors were unrivaled by any other nation in the world.

A land rich in minerals, rare gems, fresh water and fertile growing lands, the Salamalan leaders had a wealth of resources with which to cultivate the growth of trade. After centuries, people began moving to live among the Salamalan. Wanting to understand their ways and profit from their knowledge and resources, people came from all over the world.

The tribe was welcoming to the foreigners who came upon their shores. They taught them how to respect the earth. The Salamalan way of life was very simple. They always worked to live in harmony with nature and to replenish it in every way possible. The immigrants loved their new land, and their new people, the Salamalan.

Sadly, so more centuries passed, it seemed as if the energy of the great nation was changing.

The Tide Changes

The people of the land were still kind and welcoming. However the king of the tribe began to feel threatened by the growing number of foreigners who had come into their nation. For the most part they had been positive additions to the community. There were many who brought new sciences, medicine and understanding.

But the King was distraught over the changes he’d seen since he was a child. King Shemaha was his name, and he was resolved to preserve the legacy of his tribe. He did not want to see it disappear into the wave of foreigners who were now invading his land. He also feared that one day they would try to over throw him.

King Shemaha’s fears were not unfounded. However, he didn’t know exactly what to do.

This is where things began to go awry for the king.

He began to institute laws limiting the powers of foreign nationals living in the land of Sienna. They couldn’t purchase land, they couldn’t own businesses and they couldn’t hold office in regional government positions.

A fervor of indignation arose from the citizens of Sienna, both indigenous and foreign. Foreigners were aghast at the recension of their rights after their families had lived there for hundreds of years. The original tribesman were shocked because the foreigners had become like family to them. Many of them had intermarried, and now their children didn’t know where they stood. Were they now tribesman or still considered foreigners? A wave of confusion and restlessness overtook the nation.

Twelve families banded together in resistance to the king’s orders. These families were a mix foreigners and natives, who had vested great works into the land and people. For almost a decade, civil war rage throughout in the land.

Devin R. Vonderdöm

According to New Sienna lore, The Vonderdöm family patriarch, Devin R. Vonderdöm, was the leader of the revolution. A prominent family in the history of our great nation, The Vonderdöms are synonymous with New Sienna. This plane-wide powerhouse is more than a family, they are an institution. But more on that in our next issue!

We would be remiss to end this introduction without sharing the names of all twelve Royal Families of New Sienna. The following list is in order of prominence and power within the New Sienna Society:

Vonderdöm
Ricoñard
Kemáh’zu
Mattaiz
Peekáh
Nubãkaru
Shelemē
Barañu

Cöpperstein

Zang Tao

We have so much more to share in our exploration of New Sienna’s Royal Families. Please look out for the next article in our series when we explore the Vonderdöm family legacy and their complicated royal relationships.

Dear Shavonne Thompson,

I think the mayor is a joke. That’s right I said it. He’s a downright laughable, unbelievably ineffective, bumbling idiot of a leader. My mother always told me that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. I’ve tried to live by that adage, but today, I simply cannot keep my lips sealed.

How in the world does this fella think that spending more money is going to somehow magically balance the budget? I mean he’s spending big cash on everything from road development, to new hospitals, libraries, you name it, he’s spending it. I even heard some crazy cockamamie investment in inter-dimensional travel?! What’s that all about?

There are hardworking people out here struggling to pay their bills and feed their families. But the guys in charge would rather spend money on ridiculous contraptions to explore parallel worlds? What’s next? Research in unicorns and fairies? What about talking cats and dwarfs? I tell you things are getting real looney out here and I want no parts of it! You hear me?

Sure, I know, everyone wants the city to be the best it can be. And that takes money. I understand that everyone wants to see the city grow. Well, almost everyone. I personally don’t mind the growth slowing down a bit. I’d like to see us grow at a sustainable rate. Anything that grows too quickly, without a solid foundation, is bound to crumble and fall.

That’s the truth, and I outta know a thing or two about it. I’ve been a contractor for over thirty five years now. The only way to build something solid, is to ensure that it has a secure foundation. And that’s what Capital City needs.

I have no desire to live in the “Biggest City in the World” or “The Best City in the World.” I simply want my hometown to remain a safe community for my children, their children and future generations. The only way we can do that is to vote this buffoon out of office.

If you’re tired of the reckless spending and total lack of effective leadership, remember to show up at the polls and vote old man Johnson out!

In Utter Frustration,
A Disgruntled Patriot

Movie Review

By Trina Barracks

Riveting! Hypnotizing! Captivating!
Donna Strong’s news film is all of these things and more. Her film adaptation of Jasper Bradshaw’s epic secret agent series, “Jelani Brown”left us all wanting more, more, more! We must say that this film had us stuck to out seats, moths agape, surprised at every twist and turn. Even as a reader of the series, I found myself enthralled, forgetting that I already knew how the story would end. But somehow, she’s worked her move magic once again.

Byron Avery, the young and, relatively, unknown talent perfectly captures the essence of the titular character Jelani Brown. For years we’ve read Bradshaw’s novels, with on our imagination’s depiction of the beloved agent. Yet, the nuances, the energy, the savior fare shown by Avery solidified him as Jelani Brown to the world! There could not have been a better actor to portray this role.

I simply enjoyed this film so much, that it’s challenging to not share any spoilers. It’s amazing how much this interpretation remains true to the original text. The chemistry Miss La’Moure and Avery was undeniable. Their scenes, though modest, left us wondering if a real romance lies in their future . . . or present!

Clifton Hearst truly wowed us with his villainous performance. His previous roles were of a more comedic nature, so this was new territory for him. Before viewing the film, I was more than a nit skeptical as to whether he’d be able to pull off such an intense role. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised. The levels of depth that he was able to give to the Kill Switch character was commendable. He certainly played a bad guy that we could love to hate.

From direction to production, and every person who contributed to the film’s success, they should all be very proud. Our only critique might be the editing. At times, the transitions were a bit to abrupt for my liking. However, this is just one reviewer’s opinion. Overall, I give “Heavy is the Crown” five stars! This is a movie you don’t want to miss. i may too intense for younger audiences, but it it the perfect date night film.

Filmed on location across Capital City, this film has its fair share of thrills, chills, actions and romance. The movie opens to Jelani contemplating his next move. Does he return to the secret service that’s almost killed him, time after time. Or, does he throw it all away and start over? Start over, begin anew, he ponders the thought uneasily. Could he possibly live a normal life? How could someone who’s been through so much, simply walk away. How could he possibly do anything outside of secret agent life.

Once and agent, always and agent. At least that’s what the organization had taught him. Brown decides to leave his old life behind and discover the world of civilians. But, as he makes steps to start a new life. everything changes the blink of an eye. A beautiful princess and her father are in mortal danger. And of course, Jelani Brown is the only agent who can save them.

Take my advice, this is one film you don’t want to miss. Donna Strong and Triland films have a definite hit on their hands. “Heavy is the Crown” hits theaters this weekend! Get your tickets now, before they’re sold out.
