Sometimes life seems to be moving a mile per minute. A whirlwind of discoveries and
adventures, time can fly by at lightning speed, disappearing into the past, never to be
seen again. That’s certainly how Ralph and Rebecca feel right about now. Fraternal
twins, Rebecca is the eldest, by five minutes. And she never lets her brother forget it.
With everything going on in their lives, she feels like she’s responsible for Ralph. So,
she’s always buzzing around trying to make sure everything is ok.

Conversely, Ralph worries about his sister taking everything so seriously. He knows
that times are tough. Yet he also feels that life is worth living and meant to be enjoyed,
no matter how hard things may get. He enjoys a good joke joke, and sometimes takes
things too lightly. It’s just that he understands he can’t control everything. Most of
the time he just tries to go with the flow and blend in with the rest of humanity.

It seems like only yesterday their parents first explained the history of their family.
Though the world believes Adroits are mere fairytales, the twins always knew the
stories were real. Their parents made sure of that. Though their family legacy was
impressive, Ralph and Rebecca had a unique calling on their lives.

Of course, every child has a special purpose. But what if yours was so special that
people had written about you thousands of years ago? Pretty heavy huh? Well that’s
the reality these two face everyday. The story is complicated, but needless to say, the
twins have a lot on their minds. Now sixteen years old, they’ve had powers for about
three years. However, they knew in their hearts that they were Adroits long before
their powers manifested.

As little kids they would stare into the sky dreaming about the different types of
powers that they could have. Never did they imagine what the future truly held in
store. Who could have known they would become Orchid Bee and Camouflage?!

When Ralph first began to disappear, Becca and their parents were thrilled. They
were also a bit nervous. Though they believed the stories passed down through the
generations, none of them had ever truly seen a person with powers before. It was
thrilling, and frightening. Scared or not, their powers had arrived.

Needless to say, everyone in the family, including Becca herself, nearly passed out
when she sprouted beautiful rainbow colored wings. Bees had always seemed to
follow her around. It was like they had some special attraction to her. Now, its like
she’s their queen and they respond to her every whim. It seems like only yesterday
they experienced that life changing transformation. Those were happy times.

Sadly, times have changed. Their entire lives are different. About a year ago, their
parents went on an archeological expedition and never returned. The world thinks
they are dead, but Rebecca and Ralph believe the opposite. The twins know their
parents are still alive. They are on a mission to find their parents before another year
rolls around. Aunt Eboni is trying to protect them, so are Max, Pops and Likka. But
when destiny calls, you’ve got to answer.

For the past 50 years, Jackson & Jackson Paper Co. has been a staple in the community. Founded in 3023 by Conrad Jackson and his older brother Darryl, this company has been providing quality papers products for businesses in Capital City. Many have reviewed the company, saying that they provide the best products at the best prices. However today their offices lie empty as highly damaging reports circulate around the city.

This afternoon, CCPD Detectives intercepted a shipment headed out of the country. Inside the shipping container that was supposed to carry finely milled stationary, officers found a plethora of stolen goods.

Authorities confiscated stolen weapons, jewelry, and other luxury goods found inside the shipment. This discovery was fueled by an anonymous tip called into the precinct. The tipster refused to share their identity with the police. This, of course, was understandable. Anonymous tips come into their precincts all the time. However detectives feel that this tip was somehow different.

It seemed like the informant had direct, first-hand knowledge of the crime being committed. It was far from your everyday call from a little old lady suspicious of her new neighbors. Furthermore, this discovery led to the seizure of many more shipments, as well as the home office located in New Arkton.

When asked about their prime suspects, authorities shared only one name, Micheal King. He was recently promoted to General Manager, and had access to the resources needed to carry the smuggling plan out. Though it seems like he was a likeable guy, all the evidence points to him being the ring leader of the operation.

Though King has not been officially charged, he is wanted for questioning in this case. If you have any information as to the whereabouts of Michael King, be sure to contact the Capital City Police Department today. We must all do our part to keep the streets of Capital City safe.

Interview by Eshe Furaha

Music, dining, dancing, and “The Beautiful People” . . . What more could a social butterfly need in life? Or better yet, what could they need in their nightlife? Discerning partygoers have refined tastes and crave social experiences that they will never forget. It’s not easy finding the perfect combination of location, entertainment, and style.

Though it is not easy task, it seems the owners of the newest “It Club” of Capital City, Club Lavish, have definitely hit the mark. According to the murmurs of New Arkton’s most influential socialites, Club Lavish is certainly “Where it’s at!” — as the young people say. From politicians to movie producers, the city’s most notable names have been spotted on Lavish’s red carpet. And there’s no shortage of everyday people lined up, hoping to get a glimpse of the fascinating events unfolding inside.

Yes, ladies and gents, it seems there is a new contender vying for the title of New Arkton’s best night club. Especially now that Giseppe’s Lounge has closed its doors, due to a mysterious fire. Though they will be missed, it won’t be for long. Club Lavish has certainly superseded Giseppe’s as the finest club in town. It has bigger and better music acts, five star cuisine, and impeccable decor that would impress even the most royal of royals.

Owned by the experienced entertainment entrepreneur, Marquis LeBlanc, Club Lavish seems to have found that mysterious formula for long lasting success. But only time will tell if they can keep it up. Located in the heart of historic New Arkton, the location used to be The Olde Dullen Theatre.

Natives of Capital City will no doubt remember the theater back in it’s heyday. It was built at the height of New Arkton’s glittery and glamorous days of high society, dripping with wealth. The building is filled with artisan crafted fixtures and sculptures. It was constructed way back in 2990 for the “Capital City World’s Fair and Exhibition of Modern Human Ingenuity.” From the floorboards to the chandeliers, you can see that no expense was spared in the building of this monumental structure. Undoubtedly, there must have been equal care and expense given to the renovation and restoration of this historic gem.

“Groovy Baby! Groovy!” Shouts Marquis LeBlanc as he boasts over his current and past successes. “We’ve got the hottest ticket in the city, and that’s a fact Jack! The only joint that can give us a run for our money is The Groove Palace! But here’s the catch, Cap’n!” He continues dramatically, “We own that one too! Ha, ha, ha!”

As boastful as he may sound, Marquis has sound foundation for his claims. His Las Gracias venue has certainly made its mark on the city. The biggest names in entertainment can be found there any night of the week.

But let us not forget about his beautiful songstress and “partner in crime”, Miss Lola Foxx. After selling out shows night after night at the Groove Palace, we’re confident her shows in New Arkton will be even more spectacular!

Before concluding our interview, LeBlanc had this to say:

“Listen up cool cats! Here’s a message to all my folks who really know how to par-tay. Ya dig? Club Lavish is the new “It Club” of Capital City! It’s happening in a super groovy way baby! The grand opening is in just a few weeks, but we’ve got exclusive events lined up every night! The baddest names in music and film have already walked the red carpet. You know what I’m sayin’? Just last week, Donna Strong and TriLand Films hosted a preview party for ‘The Blue Mammoth.’ I’m tellling you, we’re going to blow up, just like that movie did at the box office. I mean, it should be illegal for a club to be this popular, before opening night! Ha, ha, ha! But that’s how we do baby. Keepin’ the groove real smooth.”

It had already been a month since the last time I had met my brother for lunch. It seemed like not too much had changed in the last few weeks. Shavonne and I were still having the same disagreements, though we hadn’t broken up. However, there was some movement in my ongoing Adroit investigation.

I looked around the crowded subway car. It was amazing how every person in that tiny space had a story that could fill volumes of books. Each and every person there had experienced life changing events, and the memories were all held within their hearts and minds. My heart and mind couldn’t help but feel heavy if I thought about my own story for too long.

It was far easier to focus on everyone else’s problems.

My patience was wearing thin with main stream reporting. I was just getting so tired of the bosses trying to hide the fact that Adroits were real! I knew they were real. The good news was that more and more people were beginning to see the truth. It was hard not to. With all of the reported sightings of super power humans, anyone should be able to see what was really going on.

But with hard nosed, money hungry publishers like that gruff, old George Wilson running things, the truth would never get out. There was no way he would risk upsetting anyone important, or influential, especially not with so many big budget advertisers lining his pockets.

I had experienced the pitfalls of Wilson’s pugnacious profit driven publishing time and time again. I’d felt the sting of fury as my hard-hitting editorial submissions were rejected and ultimately ended up in the rubbish bin. It had happened more times than I cared to count.

The subway car rumbled as we sped through the tunnels. Of course, there were maybe a hundred diners between my apartment and Ronny’s Diner, but this one had been my favorite for years now. When I first moved to Capital City, it seemed like I ate every meal there. Even when my cash was low, the owners always made sure I had something to eat.

Now, it was tradition. And, to be honest, it was the only place in the city where I truly felt at home. Ronny and his wife Rhonda had always made me feel welcome, and Dexter too, no matter how rough he may have looked. Though I looked forward to seeing my brother, our last meeting had been so strange. I had never seen Dex act like that before.

Truth be told, I’d been uneasy since our last lunch. My mind had been pondering over what could have caused such a transformation. He mentioned something about a new program, and a job, but he didn’t say too much else. That weird staring thing wasn’t sitting well with me either.

As the subway came to a halt, I prepared to make my way out of the car. As the people around me did the the same, I couldn’t help but remember how I’d found Dexter on this very subway line years ago. He had been missing for a year or two, when suddenly, he just appeared on the train.

At first glance, I knew it was him. How could I not know the face of my older brother? But for a moment, I second guessed myself. “It can’t be him,” I thought to myself. It didn’t matter, I knew the truth, and I had to say something to the man.

It was hard, but he was happy to see me, and I felt the same way. That’s when I found out that he’d been drifting around the city from shelter to shelter, just trying to find his way in life. That day we had lunch at Ronny’s, and it’s been our tradition ever since.

Walking up from the underground station, my eyes had to adjust to the light. People hustled and bustled by me, tending to their ever so important business. I had business to to tend to as well, but first, lunch.

I still couldn’t shake that uneasy feeling that had been following me for the past month. Hopefully things were going well for my brother, and all of this angst would have been for nothing. My steps brought me closer to the doorway of Ronny’s Diner. My eyes scanned the street in front of the building for his familiar smiling face.

Dexter wasn’t there.

No matter how crazy his life may have been, he always arrived before me. Even the time that he ended up in the emergency room with a broken arm, he was still there before me, cast and all. This was definitely a change. An unwelcome change.

Maybe he was already inside waiting at our table. I didn’t see him through the window. The table was empty, waiting for us to arrive as always. Taking a deep breath, I opened the door and walked into the busy restaurant.

“Hey Curtis honey!” Shouted Rhonda from behind the breakfast bar. “Where’s Dex?” She asked.

“Hey Rhonda, how’s it going? I wish I knew. This is his first time being late for our lunch.”

“I’m sure everything is ok. He’ll probably show up any minute. Your table’s waiting for you honey. I’ll be right over.”

I just nodded at her and headed to the table.

In my heart, I really hoped that Rhonda was right.

“Our family has a long legacy of divine purpose. From the very beginning of this realm’s creation, we were tasked with helping to protect humanity,” Pops said solemnly.
“Protect humanity from what?” I asked sincerely.

Pops smiled at my question. Looking back, I can see how child-like I truly was at that time. With a blank slate, I was like a new born baby in many ways. Living in the jungle with my new family for those first few years was paradise. A paradise to which I often wish I could return.
But there is far too much work to do. My task is too great to even think about paradise any time soon. There are some very important mysteries that must be solved. Then maybe, just maybe I could retire in the jungle —away from all the craziness.

Now as I think back to the sorrow in Pops’ eyes, my dedication to fighting the darkness grows even more. However, there was much more than sorrow in his voice, and in his story. My question had been one full of naïveté. It was so simple, so child-like. I could not comprehend the magnitude of what he was about to say.

“We were tasked with protecting humanity from Darkness . . . The Ultimate Darkness. Every evil that has ever manifested in this realm can be traced back to The Ultimate Darkness. Some call it Chaos. It is called many different things in different tongues, yet they are all one and the same.”

I listened intently, trying process every single word. It was a lot to process. But somehow, I understood everything he said. It hit me in my heart like ringing bell of truth. Pops continued speaking and soaked it all in like a sponge.

“Over the millennia, it’s plots and schemes have shifted. It’s soldiers and operatives have changed. Even the tools it employs have evolved. However, it’s only goal is the utter despair and destruction of our universe.

This was some heavy news indeed. At the time, I wasn’t sure if I was ready for this answer. But it was too late now. I was all in.

There are many who have fought over the centuries. But my family, the Lolani, were one of the original warrior tribes. My ancestors were gifted with weapons of Light. Those weapons allowed us to banish the Darkness that threatened us all. We were instructed to stay vigilant, guard our weapons, guard our secrets, and pass this truth down to our children.”

At that moment Pops paused again, choosing his next words carefully. It was not until that moment that I felt it was alright to speak. I tried to encourage one of my only two friends in the world. It was a hard fact, but Pops and Likka were the only two souls I knew in the whole world.
“That sounds like a very important task Pops. I know you’ve always taken it seriously. I’m sure your ancestors would be proud of you. You and Likka have certainly helped to save and protect me.”

Pops’ only response was a small nod of gratitude before he continued his story.

“When the day came for me to lead my clan, I was thankful and believed that I could be a great leader. I knew in my heart that I had been chosen over my brother to lead for an important reason. I was prepared to make my family and The Creator proud. I did everything I could to take care of my family and all the members of our village. But, sadly there was one man who wanted everything I had . . .”

There are many people surprised at the latest news involving the United Paper Company. No one suspected that such a longstanding and respectable organization could stoop this low. Authorities were surprised to discover that the new management of the main office was secretly using the company’s resources, facilities, and trucks to move stolen goods.

Apparently the police were alerted by someone working within the company that the criminal conspiracy was taking place. The chief had this to say, “We’ve been following this operation for some time now. We’ve been gathering intelligence and evidence to put the wrongdoers away for a long time. We’re confident about that.”

Official reports indicate that millions of dollars worth of stolen and illegal goods were shipped and delivered under the guise of paper and stationary.

When asked about their suspects in the case, Chief Robinson answered, “Our prime suspect is the general manager of United Paper Company’s home office in Collinsville, Mr. Michael King. All reports and evidence point to him as the leader of this operation. Any citizen who has information to help lead us to Mr. King will receive a substantial reward. You can call any precinct with your tips.”

He went on to say that Mr. King had gone missing, along with several of his reported business associates. Though he has not been declared guilty without an official trial, his fleeing the city is not helping his case.

According to reports, it seems that many employees of the company are trying to protect Mr. King, and deny that he was the ring leader. But that’s not what the evidence suggests.

We will continue reporting on this case as soon as we have more information.

The young Mrs. King was visibly nervous, but she pushed through.

“Well, you see, Ms. Stone, Micheal has always been a good man. Sometimes he may get a little ahead of himself with all his crazy schemes and ideas, but he’s a good man,” she finished with an awkward chuckle.

Michael King, Michael King? Eboni’s focus shifted away from what Cherry was saying. Our detective was sure that she’d heard that name before.

“Michael King,” she interrupted, “ Sorry to cut you off, but I’m sure I’ve heard that name before. Cherry looked over at her mother-in-law nervously.

Eboni continued to think aloud, “Hmmm, didn’t I hear about him on the news? That’s right. If I’m not mistaken, his name was mentioned in a story about a paper company shipping stolen goods…”

Suddenly the elder Mrs. Duke rapped her cane on the wooden floor, making a loud thud.“My son is innocent!” she said in a surprisingly loud voice. Eboni was taken aback. She could see that this woman was passionate about her son, his innocence, and his whereabouts. Eboni only hoped that there was a happy ending to this tale.

“Well ma’am, I can say this. I don’t know your son personally, but it’s clear to me that he has at least two strong fighters in his corner,” Eboni said with (what she hope was) an encouraging smile.

“Can we count on you Mrs. Stone? Will you help us find my son? I don’t care what those police, or those know-it-alls on that television set have to say about my boy! I gave birth to him! Don’t you think I would know what he is and is not capable of?!”

Mrs. King eyes were pleading, though her voice tried to have some semblance of decorum. Eboni could tell that manners and propriety were highly important to her. So the emotion that she was showing certainly pulled at the detective’s heart strings.

Eboni sat silently for a moment, wanting to be delicate about her next words. She knew she couldn’t say what she was thinking — that many criminals had mothers who couldn’t believe it was true. A sigh escaped her lips as she silently prayed that this son would be an exception. “Alright, she began, “ I can’t make any promises. But, I can disregard whatever I may have heard on the news and listen to your story. I just need you to tell me everything you know, even if you think it looks bad for Mike. I give you my word that I will do whatever I can to help. I take it, you’re confident that he is innocent?” she asked, though of course she already knew the answer.

Cherry’s eyes lit up. It was obvious that she had so much to say, but wasn’t sure where to begin. However, Mrs. Edith’s face held a shadow of embarrassment.

“Ms. Stone,” she began, “I’d like to apologize for my outburst. I’ve just been so upset by the entire situation!”

“I can certainly understand Mrs. King. No apology needed. Believe me, I want to help. Just tell me what you know and we can go from there,” Eboni replied kindly.

They both let out a sigh of relief, she could see that they believed her. It was good they did because she meant every word. Cherry opened her mouth and a floodgate came rushing out.

Dear Editor,

Why is the National government even considering the proposal to drill on Isla de Marayah?
I understand we all need power, but it seems to me that good old fashioned wind and water power have been doing us just fine.

There are plenty of natural power sources that don’t require us harming the plane that sustains us. Our realm provides us with all the food, resources and energy we need. We should not be choosing to harm our home, only to meet our greedy desires.

How much power do we as people need anyway?
How many more machines will be built in the name of progress?
How many forests will be desecrated in the name of big business and financial prosperity?
When will the people’s voice really matter?

I challenge every Citizen of Capital City to unite in one voice to challenge the establishment and their destructive and corruptive ways!

We shall be heard!
There is no progress if the home of all humanity is destroyed. Together we must work together to save us all.

By Curtis Perry – Investigative Reporter

Royal General Donovan Vonderdom — a name that strikes fear in hearts of many men. He has gone down in history as the youngest Royal General to ever be appointed to the New Sienna Royal Guard. Though some speculate that his eldest son, Adonis, may be the first to break that record.

Pompous, demanding, and unyielding are words that some have used to describe him. Though the public at large believes he’s a hard-working royal with a heart for philanthropy. The truth is, he does a great job of putting his best foot forward to keep the public on his side. However, those closest to him aren’t quick to share their truest opinion of him, for fear of the consequences.

The VOND Corporation is one of the biggest companies in the world. With diverse holdings that run the gamut of industries, Donovan’s enterprise is beyond impressive. There are very few that rival his profit margin, and even fewer with same level of relentless pursuit towards success . . . No matter the cost.

Some attribute VOND Corps overwhelming achievements to Donovan’s keen business sense. Others say its due to his ruthless nature. Regardless of how the company has grown over the years, it takes hard work and dedication to stay on top. It seems like the retired general has a talent for making things happen.

His pockets run deep and his influence reaches further than most would believe. However, though he wants to be, he is not invincible, nor invulnerable. And he is certainly not all-powerful. Though he would have you believe that he is.

Donovan has seen more than his fair share of battle. To be honest, he misses the fight. He looks back on his days of combat with fondness and a sense of nostalgia. Those were his good old days. He is, without a doubt, a warmonger in the purest sense of the word.

Centuries ago, his family built their fortunes in war, battle, and weaponry. So it should come as no surprise that VOND Corp’s key projects fall into these areas of interest. However, the man is shrewd and posses a brilliant mind. His corporation‘s investments, acquisitions, and holdings are so complicated that even the most seasoned detectives could get lost in the search, and never find their way back to Donovan.

He’s got big plans underway with his sights set on higher profits and more power than he has ever gained before. However, things are not going as planned and the retired general is certainly not alright with that. It’s his way or his way, and that’s the way it always has been.

But times are changing, and someone has decided that they’re coming to bring down Vonderdom in a major way. He has made many enemies in his life, so the suspect list is far too long. The search for the party responsible for robbing his banks won’t be an easy one. However, that’s where those deep pockets come in handy. At least that’s what he thinks.

Soon Donovan Vonderdom will have to realize that money can’t buy everything, especially not protection from the Militia.

Good Evening Capital City!
Jamal McCall here with breaking news!

The city is restless with tension after today’s unexpected events on the campus of Beckwourth University. The Young People’s Party of New Sienna, formerly known as the Youth Party, had planned a non-violent rally to protest against New Sienna’s participation in the Galatian conflict overseas. What was intended to be a peaceful demonstration to raise awareness and support, somehow turned into a rather dangerous affair.

It is unclear at this time what ultimately sparked the conflict. However, here’s what we know so far.

Flyers for the event called upon the students of Beckwourth University, and other area schools, to unite for a day of camaraderie and making their voices heard. The rising tensions in New Sienna have rumors of another draft being implemented.

The last time the New Sienna Government enforced a military draft was almost 12 years ago prior to the Keyoshian War. Millions of young men and women were enlisted to help fight. This is what the Young People’s Party hopes to prevent. In their words, “We want peace! We don’t need another pointless war! This is your battle, not ours! Why are we the ones who must fight?”

The new president of the party, Issac Tisdale, has been instrumental in building up a new and stronger representation for the younger citizens of our nation. There are many who praise his work. However, there are some who fear he may be an extremist in disguise.

According to eyewitness reports, the rally began with speeches from party leaders to really get the crowd moving. The most anticipated speaker was Monroe Salamalan. A staunch Anti-Royalist, he has been working for the past few years to gain support for the Indigenous Salamalan Tribe’s claim to their original lands. His organization, the Federation of the Royal Indigenous Clan (F.R.I.C.) has been a supporter of the Youth Party from its inception.

Apparently, there were some people in attendance who disagreed with the Tisdale and Salamalan’s speeches. Because right after they ended their presentations, an unidentified group of dissenters began shouting and moving towards the stage. Within moments, a fight broke out. Campus police were able to break it up. Luckily there were only minor injuries, and no one was arrested.

We can only hope that things will remain calm in the future. With murmurs of warn growing across the seas, we can’t afford to fight one another, here on our own shores.

That’s all for now.
And remember, if you didn’t see it on ABN 9, then it isn’t really news.
Jamal McCall signing off.

Adroit Comics, Capital City, Capital City Mysteries, Clopton, Eboni Stone

It’s a sunny day outside and birds are chirping in the trees outside of the main window of The Eboni Stone Detective Agency. She could hear the laughter of happy people parading down the avenue. It was the type of day that should make anyone smile.

Eboni wanted to smile, but she just had so much on her mind. She was feeling more than a little overwhelmed by all of the Adroit insanity that had taken over her life. And to think, she’d never believed those Adroit tales she’d heard as a kid. Boy, had she been wrong!

The truth was that chasing after Ralph and Rebecca was more than she’d bargained for when she first agreed to be their guardian. It’s been almost two years since her sister and brother-in-law had left them in her care. It was no easy task and she was still trying to get the hang of this pseudo-parenting thing.

Now she’s sitting in her office, thankful to have a bit of peace and quiet. The twins were at school, and Eboni was hoping that some new business would come her way. Opening up this agency was a crazy idea for her. She’d always been pretty practical, straight-laced, and goal-oriented. But never did she think a detective agency was in her future.

Well the future had become her present, and as unexpected her life journey has been, she’s working to make the most of it.

“Finally, a little peace and quiet,” she proclaims, as she puts her feet up on the desk.

With a sigh, she places her hands be hind her head and leans back with a smile. After a moment, her eyes narrows as she realizes there is one pressing matter that must be resolved immediately. She sits up, opens a desk drawer, and pulls out an old tattered folder. Thumbing through the folders contents she asks a very important question, “What’s for lunch? That’s the mystery I want to solve right now!”

After flipping through twenty or more delivery menus, she decided to order from Flausheen Express, the new take-out spot near her building. After placing her order, Eboni placed her hand behind her head and resumed her lounging position. She tried to take a moment to just let her mind rest. It had been running so wild these past few months.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.

“Sheesh, that was fast! They said it would be here in no time. I guess they really meant it. Sitting up quickly she shouts, “One moment!”

Reaching for her pocket book, she notices the silhouettes standing in front of her door.

“That’s no delivery guy,” she surmised.

Just then a sweet, little, timing, country voice attempted to shout back, “Yes ma’am! Thank you!”

There were two figures outside of her office door. Both were small and female. Unexpected guests didn’t stop by often, so she was definitely curious as to who they were. Her office had only been open for a few months, and she hadn’t really had a budget for advertising. So every client she’d had so far, had come via word of mouth. Perhaps some of her most recent clients had been moving their lips to spread the word. A new case wouldn’t be too shabby. The bills had to get paid somehow.

Quickly, Eboni walked over to the door, grabbed the doorknob, and welcomed in her guests.

“Good afternoon ladies,” she greeted with a smile.

Two quiet, prim, and proper women stood in her doorway. They were dressed prettily, as though their church service, or an afternoon tea party was on their itinerary for today.

“Good afternoon replied the younger of the two. She looked no older than twenty on years. At her arm stood a woman old enough to be her mother. She wore her age well, with a regal and confident look on her face. However, her face also showed her worry and concern, all too clearly.

“I’m Cherry King,” and this is my mother-in-law … well, she’s more like a mother to me that’s my own mom you know,” she said quickly and nervously, wanting to make sure she didn’t say anything wrong.

“I understand,” Eboni replied with a reassuring smile. “It’s so nice to meet you both,” she continued and shook their hands. “Why don’t we have a seat?” She asked gesturing to the two simple chairs sitting in front of her second hand desk. She thought to herself that the chairs were also second hand, shoot, everything in the office had come from a second hand shop, not that it really mattered. Starting an agency with little to no budget had been no easy challenge. Hopefully these ladies were able to pay some real fees.

With a polite smile and nod, her potential new clients sat down daintily.

Cherry began speaking again, “Ms. Stone, you see, Mother King is one of my very best friends. When I met Duke years ago, it’s like she just took me in as her own daughter!”

“Well I can see you’re far from the mother-daughter-in-law-stereotypes! That is good news! I’d love to get to know you both better, but I’m sure there’s a reason you came to visit me today,” Eboni replied.

A look of sorrow consumed their faces, “Well, Cherry began, It’s my husband, and Mother King’s son, Mike. He’s gotten himself into some trouble, and now he’s missing!” It was easy to see that both of these women were beyond distraught. This Mike fella was certainly blessed with a family who loved him, that’s more than many people could claim. But she just hoped that his trouble wasn’t too deep, and this story could have a happy ending. Sadly that wasn’t always the case in Capital City.

Eboni grabbed her notepad and began to write down the most pertinent details to this case. She realized that this probably wouldn’t be the high-paying case she was hoping for, but she never got into the business for the big bucks. She started her agency to help local people who were in trouble. And she was determined to do just that.

“So,” Eboni asked, with the kindest voice she could muster, “Why don’t you tell me what’s been happening with Mike?”

To be continued . . .

ABN News, Capital City, Local Government, New Arkton, New Sienna, Shavonne Thompson

Good Evening Capital City! Shavonne Thompson here with a special report.

Just last night, an innocent family was accosted in an alley outside the Larkspur Theater. The unsuspecting Wayans family had gone out with fun times on their mind. They’d made a trip all the way from Hampton Heights for the premiere of The Blue Mammoth. Little did they know, a real life terror awaited them.

After leaving the movie theater, it seems Mr. Wayans wanted to show his wife and son a little bit of his old neighborhood. Little did he know, much had changed over the years. As they were making their way down the alley, things suddenly took a turn for the worst. They were confronted by a ruffian who had been waiting for some unsuspecting target. He held them up at gun point demanding their valuables. Stunned, the family froze in fear. That’s when, according to our sources, the attacker grabbed for Mrs. Wayans’ pearl necklace. It broke under the strain and scattered pearls across the ground.

As bad as this story sounds, hold. This is where things turnaround.

Just when the family feared that their days were done, some concerned citizen jumped in to help. We don’t know this secret defender’s identity. Or what he looks like. We only know that he seemingly appeared out of nowhere, incapacitated the attacker, and disappeared into the darkness.

Mr. And Mrs. Wayans quickly alerted the police, who came and apprehended the now unconscious assailant. Of course, we’re working to get an exclusive interview with the Wayans family to hear a first hand account of their harrowing experience.

We are certainly happy to know that this story has a happy ending. Crime has definitely been on the rise in our fair city. However, it seems like someone, somewhere, is trying to fight back. Who could this mystery defender be? That’s what we want to know.

If anyone has clues or information that could help identify our anonymous defender, be sure to contact the ABN Newsroom today!

In closing, I must say that it’s nice to know there are people who still care out there. Hopefully this will be a new trend in Capital City. Perhaps we can change our city’s course towards “Crime Capital” to “Compassion Capital.”

Stay Groovy Capital City! This is Shavonne Thompson signing off.

Capital City, New Arkton, The New Arkton

Food. Night Life. Fun

Capital City has long been a tourism destination for the most discerning travelers in the realm. People come from across the world to marvel at our city’s sophistication, architecture, cuisine, and entertainment. With everything Capital City has to offer, it’s easy to see why so many fine folks have made it their home.

The oldest district in the city is Capital Island. It was the original capital of New Sienna upon its founding in 2867. Over the centuries, the settlement grew, and outlying communities officially became a part of the capital. Though Capital Island is the most historic, New Arkton comes in as a close second.

Second in age only by a few years, New Arkton was founded as a settlement of immigrants from Old Arkton across the Aquilla Sea. The Vonderdöm family, of course, had a great deal to do with its establishment and growth over the years. Though it cannot bear the distinction of the most historic, New Arkton has certainly earned the titles of most exciting, most developed and perhaps, most intriguing.

Of course, New Arkton has its fair share of historic sights. The New Arkton Stock Exchange, on the south side of the district, is still one of the oldest buildings in the city. Erected in 2982 by the Royal Commerce Commission, this building has always been a representation of wealth in New Sienna.

Then there are the Royal Triconite Towers on the northern bank of Capital Bay. Built in 2983 by the Nubãkaru family, this trio of edifices has become an international symbol for the progressiveness and prosperity of New Sienna. An amazing feat of architecture, these towers are home to some of the most prominent and successful corporations in the world.

If architecture isn’t your cup of tea, perhaps the theatre might tickle your fancy. New Arkton is home to the biggest Theatre District in the country, and one of the largest in all the realm. Up and down Byron Jacquet Boulevard, visitors can find an abundance of theatrical venues showcasing the brightest names in entertainment. No matter your preference, comedy, drama or musical, there’s a show to appease even the most discerning theater-goer.

Just north of the Theatre District, you can find some of the most amazing shops and restaurants. Mimi’s Cafe has become quite a hit with their innovative Mira Mira fusion cuisine. They’ve won numerous awards for both their menu and ambiance. However, if you’re in the mood for something a little more casual, then you must pay a visit to Flasheen Express! This restaurant chain launched in Las Gracias and made its way to the streets of New Arkton.

From food to fashion, history to entertainment, New Arkton has what you’re looking for! If you never been to Capital City, then you’re certainly missing out. So book your flight today, and choose New Arkton as the epicenter of your vacation excursion.

Adroit Comics, Capital City, Guardians of New Sienna, New Sienna, Nu’ZarEil
  1. adroit [ə-droit′]
  2. quick and skillful in body or mind, deft.
  3. ingenious; ready in invention or execution; possessing readiness of resource.a human being possessing special or unique qualities that stand out from the norm.

The Adroit Comics Universe exists in a realm far, far away from Earth. In our world, it was once common knowledge that people with special powers existed. There are countless myths and legends about adroit humans with abilities far beyond the understanding of most. Though modern times have found the knowledge of Adroits suppressed, we know the truth. This world is far more advanced and complex than the powers-that-be would have you believe. How could they have you believe that you could possibly possess the power to fly, or run faster than the speed of sound? How could they ever control the minds of humanity, if we only grasped the strength and untapped power that had been granted to us by The Creator of All? If the unique, unknowing Adroits could all realize their true powers . . . who could stop them? Certainly not the powers of darkness. It is in the realm of Nuzar’Eil that our stories take place. This is a world full of the rich and poor, strong and weak, the good and the evil. Just as on Earth, there are powers of darkness working against The Eternal Light. This is the light that shines through all of Creation. It is a fight that has lasted the ages. However, Light always has, and always will banish Darkness. The evildoers of our world are motivated by many factors: greed, power, revenge, and abandonment issues to name a few. There are even those who deal with their own twisted versions of reality, in which they are the supreme power. Fueled by Chaos, these beings have dedicated their lives to get what they want . . . at any cost. Our champions are seemingly simple people, who have come to live complicated lives. Their powers manifest in different ways, and at different times. But each and every warrior has their own special story to tell. No matter who they are, or where they hail from, they are fighting to help save the world from the clutches of Darkness.Welcome to the Adroit Comics Universe! Our realms are built on ancient foundations, mingled with futuristic politics, technology, and innovation. We’re working to create a world where you can feel free to cheer for the good guys and boo the bad guys. We want this to be a place where you can be inspired to discover your own Adroit powers. May the powers of Light guide your path and forever protect you from the powers of darkness. We pray that the words and images within our pages can be a beacon of hope. And also, a reminder, that when all is said and done, good triumphs over evil.

Braxton “The Bruiser” Jackson vs Jerome “Lazyboy” Mattius

It’s official and this announcement is hot off the press!

A new title fight has been scheduled between the reigning NSBA Heavyweight Champion Braxton “The Bruiser” Jackson and the IBL Heavyweight Champion, Jerome “Lazyboy” Mattius.

The champs will be going toe to toe in a unifying title match on the 13th of Hasha, at the Beckwourth Arena.

The winner of this exhibition will become the champion of both the New Sienna Boxing Association and the International Boxing League. This is a big deal for more reasons than one. There has never been a unifying title fight between these two leagues.

The streets are buzzing with rumors of the NSBA and IBL joining forces. Nothing has been confirmed thus far. However, the announcement of this crossover fight lends credibility to those rumors.

There are plenty of folks who’ve been asking for this fight for a long time now. We’re all used to seeing Jackson knocking his opponents out. A longtime boxer Bruiser’s record stands at 63-1. That’s 63 wins with a single loss. What many people don’t know is that his only loss, was his very first fight, to Rico Puticelli. And his first win was a rematch against Puticelli. It ended with his face on the mat, and Jackson’s fist in the air.

Though we’ve all seen Jackson’s skills in the ring, let us not discount his challenger. Jerome “Lazyboy” Mattius fought his way to the top of the International Boxing League fair and square. He’s a tough fighter, and he’s smart. Lazyboy seems worlds away from Jackson in many ways.

A young boy from Southern New Sienna, he’s working hard to save his family’s farm. You won’t find him in any of the glitzy clubs or philandering his way around town. He’s always training with his manager Earl Lanquille down in Las Gracias at the 7th Street Gym.

Lazyboy is focused, faithful and on a mission. Though Jackson might be the flashy fan favorite, he’s definitely found a contender in Johnson. When asked about his passion for the sport of boxing, this is what Jerome “Lazyboy” Mattius had this to say:

“I don’t like to hurt people you know? But I’m a really great fighter. Some have even said prolific. I don’t like talkin’ bout myself like that, but I’m trying to be truthful. You know what I’m saying? Sometimes I have dreams of being this great warrior. So you know, I’m just doing what I’m good at. I’m doing it for my family, period.”

When asked the same question, Braxton “Bruiser” Jackson replied:

“I love the thrill of the fight. I like to see the look of confidence in a young contender’s eyes, and turn it to fear, punch by punch. That’s where my passion lies.”

Well what do you think sports fans?
Who would you put your money on?
If betting were legal, that is!

This is going to be a tough competition, and only time will tell for certain. We’ll be keeping a close eye on both camps to keep you updated. There will definitely be much more information coming soon. So be sure to pick up the latest issue of The Capital City Gazette to make sure you don’t miss a beat!

Sirens could be heard all along South Las Gracias Blvd. in the wee hours of Saturday morning. Police were responding to an anonymous call from the Las Gracias Branch of The Bank of Vonderdom. The call reported a robbery in progress, however when officers arrived, they discovered a curious scene.

The night guards had been knocked unconscious at both the front door and vault entrance. When they were revived, they could not remember anything about the attempted robbery. But what police discovered in side the vault was even more puzzling.

Five men, who appeared to be the would-be bank robbers, were found tied up inside of the vault. They too were knocked unconscious. A huge shipment of freshly minted bills had been delivered to the bank only that very morning. The money was strewn allover the vault, as though the perpetrators were caught in the middle of their criminal deed.

It is believed that these men are tied to the criminal organization known only as “The Militia.” Had their attempts been successful, this would have been the fourth hit on Vonderdom Banks by The Militia in recent months. No one knows who they are, or what they are really after. When the officers were able to wake the crew of perpetrators, they tried to get some answers. But the robbers’ lips were steel traps.

Unfortunately, we still don’t have any real answers, because this case took on two more strange turns. When police went to review the security footage, all the tapes were gone. Detectives were left clueless as to who apprehended the perps.

Now, the police could get no info from the robbers on the crime scene. It was decided, of course, that they would be booked and interrogated at the precinct. The crew was loaded into the police van and headed straight towards the Las Gracias Police Headquarters. But much to their surprise and chagrin, the van was blindsided by the Militia. They had come for their compatriots.

Lucky for the police, no one was killed in the showdown, but needless to say, the Commissioner blew her top! She’s on a mission to find and bring down The Militia. Many people are wondering who they are, and we’ve had reports of curious phenomena surrounding this mysterious group of bandits. Now of course this could all be hearsay, but you never know. Stay tuned for details on The Militia Crisis and The Bank of Vonderdom robberies.

If need be, we’ll stop the presses to get the newest news to you first!
