The New Arkton Bears are champions, today and forever. The Bears topped the Capital City Monarchs 9-4 at Monarchs Ballpark today to claim the R.B.L. Championship Series crown.

“Nobody can take this away from us, not ever,” said series MVP and center fielder Bucky Hayes after his club had sealed the victory. “We worked hard and we accomplished our goal.”

The atmosphere was electric as the newly-crowned champs stormed the field at the conclusion of the game. Fans cheered, gloves flew in the air, high fives and hugs were the order of the day.

“From day one of spring training, I could see it in their eyes,” said New Arkton manager Willard Johnson. “The players had that look of intensity, of hunger, of a desire to accomplish something great, and today they did that. They’re champions of the world.”

The Bears took the series 4-0. The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the National League East Division and a 140-22 record.

Their bats were silent and New Arkton had a rookie on the mound. No problem.

On a day when the Bears struggled to string together much offense, the club got a big boost from 23-year-old starter Gary Cox. The left-hander quieted the Capital City Monarchs at Walnut Street Stadium to help New Arkton take the 2-1 decision and seize a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.

Cox gave New Arkton a solid start. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit over 6 innings.

“If I go out there and help the team win, that’s all you can do,” said Cox.

Game 3 is set to be played Sunday at Monarchs Ballpark. The scheduled starters for the game are Hector Gomez for New Arkton and Kenta Takano for Capital City.

There are many people surprised at the latest news involving the United Paper Company. No one suspected that such a longstanding and respectable organization could stoop this low. Authorities were surprised to discover that the new management of the main office was secretly using the company’s resources, facilities, and trucks to move stolen goods.

Apparently the police were alerted by someone working within the company that the criminal conspiracy was taking place. The chief had this to say, “We’ve been following this operation for some time now. We’ve been gathering intelligence and evidence to put the wrongdoers away for a long time. We’re confident about that.”

Official reports indicate that millions of dollars worth of stolen and illegal goods were shipped and delivered under the guise of paper and stationary.

When asked about their suspects in the case, Chief Robinson answered, “Our prime suspect is the general manager of United Paper Company’s home office in Collinsville, Mr. Michael King. All reports and evidence point to him as the leader of this operation. Any citizen who has information to help lead us to Mr. King will receive a substantial reward. You can call any precinct with your tips.”

He went on to say that Mr. King had gone missing, along with several of his reported business associates. Though he has not been declared guilty without an official trial, his fleeing the city is not helping his case.

According to reports, it seems that many employees of the company are trying to protect Mr. King, and deny that he was the ring leader. But that’s not what the evidence suggests.

We will continue reporting on this case as soon as we have more information.

Good Evening Capital City!
Jamal McCall here with breaking news!

The city is restless with tension after today’s unexpected events on the campus of Beckwourth University. The Young People’s Party of New Sienna, formerly known as the Youth Party, had planned a non-violent rally to protest against New Sienna’s participation in the Galatian conflict overseas. What was intended to be a peaceful demonstration to raise awareness and support, somehow turned into a rather dangerous affair.

It is unclear at this time what ultimately sparked the conflict. However, here’s what we know so far.

Flyers for the event called upon the students of Beckwourth University, and other area schools, to unite for a day of camaraderie and making their voices heard. The rising tensions in New Sienna have rumors of another draft being implemented.

The last time the New Sienna Government enforced a military draft was almost 12 years ago prior to the Keyoshian War. Millions of young men and women were enlisted to help fight. This is what the Young People’s Party hopes to prevent. In their words, “We want peace! We don’t need another pointless war! This is your battle, not ours! Why are we the ones who must fight?”

The new president of the party, Issac Tisdale, has been instrumental in building up a new and stronger representation for the younger citizens of our nation. There are many who praise his work. However, there are some who fear he may be an extremist in disguise.

According to eyewitness reports, the rally began with speeches from party leaders to really get the crowd moving. The most anticipated speaker was Monroe Salamalan. A staunch Anti-Royalist, he has been working for the past few years to gain support for the Indigenous Salamalan Tribe’s claim to their original lands. His organization, the Federation of the Royal Indigenous Clan (F.R.I.C.) has been a supporter of the Youth Party from its inception.

Apparently, there were some people in attendance who disagreed with the Tisdale and Salamalan’s speeches. Because right after they ended their presentations, an unidentified group of dissenters began shouting and moving towards the stage. Within moments, a fight broke out. Campus police were able to break it up. Luckily there were only minor injuries, and no one was arrested.

We can only hope that things will remain calm in the future. With murmurs of warn growing across the seas, we can’t afford to fight one another, here on our own shores.

That’s all for now.
And remember, if you didn’t see it on ABN 9, then it isn’t really news.

“If there was a stat for ‘team shutout,’ this would be it,” Duncan said later. “My catcher called a great game, guys delivered at the plate and when I messed something up the guys behind me were where they needed to be.”

So far this season, Duncan has logged a 30-3 record with a 0.72 ERA. He has started 35 games, hurled 302 innings and registered 453 strikeouts and 24 walks.

Good Evening Capital City! Shavonne Thompson here with a special report.

Just last night, an innocent family was accosted in an alley outside the Larkspur Theater. The unsuspecting Wayans family had gone out with fun times on their mind. They’d made a trip all the way from Hampton Heights for the premiere of The Blue Mammoth. Little did they know, a real life terror awaited them.

After leaving the movie theater, it seems Mr. Wayans wanted to show his wife and son a little bit of his old neighborhood. Little did he know, much had changed over the years. As they were making their way down the alley, things suddenly took a turn for the worst. They were confronted by a ruffian who had been waiting for some unsuspecting target. He held them up at gun point demanding their valuables. Stunned, the family froze in fear. That’s when, according to our sources, the attacker grabbed for Mrs. Wayans’ pearl necklace. It broke under the strain and scattered pearls across the ground.

As bad as this story sounds, hold. This is where things turnaround.

Just when the family feared that their days were done, some concerned citizen jumped in to help. We don’t know this secret defender’s identity. Or what he looks like. We only know that he seemingly appeared out of nowhere, incapacitated the attacker, and disappeared into the darkness.

Mr. And Mrs. Wayans quickly alerted the police, who came and apprehended the now unconscious assailant. Of course, we’re working to get an exclusive interview with the Wayans family to hear a first hand account of their harrowing experience.

We are certainly happy to know that this story has a happy ending. Crime has definitely been on the rise in our fair city. However, it seems like someone, somewhere, is trying to fight back. Who could this mystery defender be? That’s what we want to know.

If anyone has clues or information that could help identify our anonymous defender, be sure to contact the ABN Newsroom today!

In closing, I must say that it’s nice to know there are people who still care out there. Hopefully this will be a new trend in Capital City. Perhaps we can change our city’s course towards “Crime Capital” to “Compassion Capital.”

Stay Groovy Capital City! This is Shavonne Thompson signing off.

Will The Bears Win The Playoffs For The First Time In 30 Years?!?

Bears Coach Jim Johnson says the team has the goods to take it all the way!

By Donnie Denton – Sports Editor

The city is ablaze with Baseball Fever! From Collinsville to The Hampton Hills, the streets are humming with excitement over the Bears’ winning season. For some, it seemed futile to even dream of such a day. But this year’s lineup has proven to be the perfect blend of passion and talent.

“We have to take it one day at a time. This is only the first game of the playoffs and we have a long way to go before we can declare victory. But our boys are ready to go! We’ve been preparing all season for this moment. We look forward to bringing it all home to New Arkton. Now folks will know who’s the best team in Capital City. Certainly not those Monarchs!”

When asked about which players he believed were the biggest contributors to the Bears’ winning season, Coach Johnson had this to say: “Well, Raheem Peterson, our second baseman, had a great season after last year. He broke his ankle last season and it was a rough comeback. But he’s been great for us. Ross is also one of the league leaders in Doubles and hit over .300”.

This reporter cannot help but mention that all sports watchers have been amazed at Peterson’s comeback. So often in the game of baseball, we see injuries such as these take players out of the game for good. Capital City couldn’t be happier about his swift recovery and amazing game this year.

Coach Johnson continued, “Julius “The Juice” Jackson, our veteran catcher and team Captain, has been playing with us for ten years. He was second on the team with home runs. He was in the top five in the league for RBIs [Runs Batted In]. Carlos made the All-Pro League team.”

As our interview comes to a close, the coach cannot help but brag about the Bears’ newest heavy hitter, rookie Willie “Blaze” Hayes. “Hayes has truly become the Hometown Sensation. With his love of the game, work ethic, and playful demeanor, he brings a youthful jolt to the team. Hayes led the league in stolen bases, and triples. Plus he was in the Top Ten Players for home runs. He brings a natural knowledge to the game and really helped bring the team over the hump from last season’s disappointing loss.”

Last year’s trip to the playoffs was a major disappointment to Capital City. But sadly, it was not an unfamiliar feeling. But we all hope that this year will be different. It seems we just might have the formula to win — passion, hope, and some of the league’s best players! Be sure to tune in tonight at 7:30 to watch the game live on ABN9!

ABN News, Capital City, Isla de Mariyah, Las Gracias, Local Government

Many citizens are shocked and outraged at Mayor Cornelius Johnson’s latest announcement. For months, environmental activists have protested and picketed against the proposed drilling project on Isla de Mariyah. This tiny island lies just southwest of the Las Gracias shore. Occupied primarily by natives, this small chunk of land hasn’t received too much interest. Only a few developers have tried to build on the beautiful beaches, but negotiations with the natives have constantly fallen through. Now it seems as though one royal family, in conjunction with the New Sienna Royal Government, has set their sights on a rare element called Protonium. Most people have never heard of the stuff, but these bigwigs are making one big deal over its discovery. It seems the last time surveyors found a source of Protonium this plentiful, was almost over 15 years ago. Back during the Keyoshian War, The VOND Corp discovered a bounty of the element that proved to be highly lucrative. But, like most excavations for natural resources, the well eventually ran dry. This left the corporation scrambling to find another well. Now, only last year, VOND Corp officials set their eyes on Isla de Mariyah. Their efforts have been hit with much resistance. However, Mayor Johnson’s speech may be bringing that all to an end. He addressed the anxious crowd at a press conference this morning. “I understand the concerns of our tree-hugging friends who have made their voices heard down at City Hall. I also understand the needs of our biggest corporations, who, by the way, help keep our fine city running with their jobs, investments, and taxes. “My panel of scientific experts has assured me that this drilling project will cause no significant damage to the environment. And let me tell you, I believe my experts. The benefits of drilling, in our opinion, far outweigh the trivial concerns these activists are raising. Would you believe that just a minute amount of this substance could fuel all the homes and businesses in Capital City, for a month?!“I see nothing but good things coming from this excavation. That being said, with the backing of some of the world’s brightest minds, I stand behind the drilling on Isla de Mariyah. The VOND Corp, and all related parties, have the official support of Capital City in this matter.”It is uncertain if the mayor received the response he was hoping for. His announcement was met with jeers and boos from the crowd. In closing, Mayor Johnson simply smiled, waved, and thanked everyone for their time and votes. When we contacted The VOND Corp reps regarding the planned start date for the drilling, they had no comment. Though the corporation is silent now, we have a feeling this won’t be the last we hear about this issue.

Who are the Royals?

Before “New Sienna” there was “Sienna”

All citizens of New Sienna are familiar with the royals. To an even greater extent, there are very few in the modern civilized world who have not heard about the Royals of New Sienna and all their dramatic feuds and conquests.

One cannot speak on the history of the nation of New Sienna without mentioning the names of our Royal Families. For it is they who founded this country as we know it today. The NNS (Nation of New Sienna) was birthed from the bravery of twelve families who stood up against tyranny to establish a new nation. Or at least that’s how the story goes.

The premise of this new nation was a noble one, or at least it seemed so. However there are many that would argue the establishment of The NNS to be self-serving at best – and utterly selfish and destructive at worst.

Salamalan Tribal Legacy

There was a time when this land was all run and owned by the Salamalan tribe.
They prospered as a people and became renowned across the world as skilled craftsmen and traders. Their mercantile endeavors were unrivaled by any other nation in the world.

A land rich in minerals, rare gems, fresh water and fertile growing lands, the Salamalan leaders had a wealth of resources with which to cultivate the growth of trade. After centuries, people began moving to live among the Salamalan. Wanting to understand their ways and profit from their knowledge and resources, people came from all over the world.

The tribe was welcoming to the foreigners who came upon their shores. They taught them how to respect the earth. The Salamalan way of life was very simple. They always worked to live in harmony with nature and to replenish it in every way possible. The immigrants loved their new land, and their new people, the Salamalan.

Sadly, so more centuries passed, it seemed as if the energy of the great nation was changing.

The Tide Changes

The people of the land were still kind and welcoming. However the king of the tribe began to feel threatened by the growing number of foreigners who had come into their nation. For the most part they had been positive additions to the community. There were many who brought new sciences, medicine and understanding.

But the King was distraught over the changes he’d seen since he was a child. King Shemaha was his name, and he was resolved to preserve the legacy of his tribe. He did not want to see it disappear into the wave of foreigners who were now invading his land. He also feared that one day they would try to over throw him.

King Shemaha’s fears were not unfounded. However, he didn’t know exactly what to do.

This is where things began to go awry for the king.

He began to institute laws limiting the powers of foreign nationals living in the land of Sienna. They couldn’t purchase land, they couldn’t own businesses and they couldn’t hold office in regional government positions.

A fervor of indignation arose from the citizens of Sienna, both indigenous and foreign. Foreigners were aghast at the recension of their rights after their families had lived there for hundreds of years. The original tribesman were shocked because the foreigners had become like family to them. Many of them had intermarried, and now their children didn’t know where they stood. Were they now tribesman or still considered foreigners? A wave of confusion and restlessness overtook the nation.

Twelve families banded together in resistance to the king’s orders. These families were a mix foreigners and natives, who had vested great works into the land and people. For almost a decade, civil war rage throughout in the land.

Devin R. Vonderdöm

According to New Sienna lore, The Vonderdöm family patriarch, Devin R. Vonderdöm, was the leader of the revolution. A prominent family in the history of our great nation, The Vonderdöms are synonymous with New Sienna. This plane-wide powerhouse is more than a family, they are an institution. But more on that in our next issue!

We would be remiss to end this introduction without sharing the names of all twelve Royal Families of New Sienna. The following list is in order of prominence and power within the New Sienna Society:

Vonderdöm
Ricoñard
Kemáh’zu
Mattaiz
Peekáh
Nubãkaru
Shelemē
Barañu
Gladenson
Cöpperstein
Benjaroo
Zang Tao

We have so much more to share in our exploration of New Sienna’s Royal Families. Please look out for the next article in our series when we explore the Vonderdöm family legacy and their complicated royal relationships.

Dear Shavonne Thompson,

I think the mayor is a joke. That’s right I said it. He’s a downright laughable, unbelievably ineffective, bumbling idiot of a leader. My mother always told me that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. I’ve tried to live by that adage, but today, I simply cannot keep my lips sealed.

How in the world does this fella think that spending more money is going to somehow magically balance the budget? I mean he’s spending big cash on everything from road development, to new hospitals, libraries, you name it, he’s spending it. I even heard some crazy cockamamie investment in inter-dimensional travel?! What’s that all about?

There are hardworking people out here struggling to pay their bills and feed their families. But the guys in charge would rather spend money on ridiculous contraptions to explore parallel worlds? What’s next? Research in unicorns and fairies? What about talking cats and dwarfs? I tell you things are getting real looney out here and I want no parts of it! You hear me?

Sure, I know, everyone wants the city to be the best it can be. And that takes money. I understand that everyone wants to see the city grow. Well, almost everyone. I personally don’t mind the growth slowing down a bit. I’d like to see us grow at a sustainable rate. Anything that grows too quickly, without a solid foundation, is bound to crumble and fall.

That’s the truth, and I outta know a thing or two about it. I’ve been a contractor for over thirty five years now. The only way to build something solid, is to ensure that it has a secure foundation. And that’s what Capital City needs.

I have no desire to live in the “Biggest City in the World” or “The Best City in the World.” I simply want my hometown to remain a safe community for my children, their children and future generations. The only way we can do that is to vote this buffoon out of office.

If you’re tired of the reckless spending and total lack of effective leadership, remember to show up at the polls and vote old man Johnson out!

In Utter Frustration,
A Disgruntled Patriot
