Adroit Comics, Bucky Hayes, New Arkton, New Arkton Bears, RBL Baseball

At the age of 22, Bucky Hayes of the New Arkton Bears could very well have his best years ahead of him.

It’s a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 3073 was good enough to win the center fielder the National League Most Valuable Player Award.

“See the ball, hit the ball,” he said. “That’s my basic approach.”

The top hitter put up a .411 batting average this year, as well as a .537 on-base percentage. He played 157 games and racked up 232 hits, 26 doubles, 15 triples, 56 home runs, 182 RBIs and 191 runs scored.

He received 23 first place votes out of a possible 24. Brian Duncan of the New Arkton Bears finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Gary Cox of the New Arkton Bears finished third.

The great nation, now known as New Sienna, was once upon a time simply “Sienna.” But our Royal Families had the foresight and fortitude to bring about a revolution that would change the face of the world.

Sienna had once been a peaceful land, full of cooperative works and peoples from across the realm. The land of Sienna was rich with resources: freshwater, acres, and acres of timber, fertile soils, and caverns full of precious metals and gems. Over the centuries, the native ruling family had been welcoming and supportive of newcomers.

But there came a day when the ruling family lost their way. Becoming foolhardy and greedy, the young King Shemaha Salamalan changed everything. His edicts were harsh and disruptive to the citizens of Sienna, both native and foreign. Families across the land were in an uproar and fearful of what the future could bring. However, twelve leaders united the families of Sienna to fight back against the king’s tyrannous rule. As happens so many times in history, there was one person who stood up to make a difference. There was one person who inspired the citizens to take action for what is right. That man was Devin Vonderdöm, of the Vonderdöm clan. His ancestors had arrived on the shores of Sienna almost one hundred years before. Traveling from Old Arkton, his family had always worked in trading precious metals and resources. The Vonderdöm clan had built much wealth before migrating to Sienna and had earned even more since they’d settled. Seeing that his family’s livelihood was in jeopardy from the king’s new orders, the noble Vonderdöm knew that he couldn’t sit by and see all that they had worked for be lost.

From that moment forth, I knew that everything would be different. How could I bear witness to such transgressions as these and say nothing? How could I, Devin, from the long line of Vonderdöms, allow the rights of myself and my family to be usurped? The answer is simple, I could not, and would not go down in history as a side-note. The world would not look back and say that Devin Vonderdöm did not fight for his family’s freedoms. The freedom to live, the freedom to build, and the freedom of enterprise.

– Excerpt from Devin Vonderdöm’s Personal Diary circa 2885

With that understanding, he joined with other like-minded leaders of the community. Together these leaders worked to unite families across the land to resist the new laws that threatened their prosperity. They urged their followers to fight for the rights that had long ago been granted to their forefathers. These same rights should be due to them as well.

These leaders became known as the Royals of New Sienna, and their war has gone down in history as The Royal Rebellion of Sienna. Lasting for five years, many lives were lost. Many mourned the losses of this great nation and looked with hopefulness to the future. And what a wonderful future it proved to be.

Under the wise and considerate leadership of New Sienna’s Royal Families, our nation has become the most powerful in the realm. In this, all of our citizens should take pride.

Adroit Comics, Eboni Stone

Eboni Stone is a complicated lady. At first glance she might look like just another pretty face. But Mrs. Stone comes with many unexpected layers. She’s a lady who’s life has been far from smooth, and anything but easy. From her early years on the Capital City Police Force, to becoming an undercover private eye, and now novice protector of the realm — she’s seen more ups and downs than she cares to count.

“How did I get here?” is a question that rings out in her mind, more often than not. Every once in awhile, when she finds a rare, quiet moment, Eboni reflects on her past. She gives the deepest of thought to the whys and hows of her life. Unfortunately, she’s yet to find truly satisfying answers. All she can do is her best to make things better.

Never in a million years did she think her life would be like this. Since she’d met Max, Pops and Likka, her life had become surreal. Filled with top secret royal conspiracies and super powered humans hailing from ancient bloodlines, its like something out of the tabloids.

Back in the day, she and her husband would argue over whether Adroits were real.
He believed. She didn’t. Boy oh boy would he have been excited to say “I told you so!” Her parents had spoken of ancient family legacies, but only in passing. It
had all sounded like children’s stories as far as she was concerned. Dennis had always been more open-minded than she was. Oh, how she missed him. There wasn’t a day that went by without her thinking of his laugh.

It had been five years now. Though the pangs of loss had softened, they had not gone anywhere. But alas, there was much work to do, and Eboni Stone has never walked away from a challenge. Investigating her husband’s death was tough one for her. The answers she found weren’t pretty. However, she soon realized that investigation was leading somewhere she wasn’t ready to go . . . At least not yet.

Nowadays, Mrs. Stone is a private investigator working to help local folks who need her help. But now, things are getting crazier than she could have imagined. As someone who didn’t believe in all that Adroit hoopla, she’s certainly all in now. As the official guardian of her niece and nephew, she has no choice but to believe. The disappearance of their parents came as a shock to everyone. Now, Eboni is working to keep them safe. . . and get enough clients to keep the bills paid.

Everyday her to do list grows longer. But she’s focused. The twins need her guidance and help finding their parents. Pops and Likka are training her to be as strong as possible, while Max needs her friendship and a partner on his undercover missions. And now she’s somehow gotten sucked into an unending trail of conspiracies. That’s unfortunate for the bad guys because Eboni Stone can’t stop until her case is solved.

“Our family has a long legacy of divine purpose. From the very beginning of this realm’s creation, we were tasked with helping to protect humanity,” Pops said solemnly.
“Protect humanity from what?” I asked sincerely.

Pops smiled at my question. Looking back, I can see how child-like I truly was at that time. With a blank slate, I was like a new born baby in many ways. Living in the jungle with my new family for those first few years was paradise. A paradise to which I often wish I could return.
But there is far too much work to do. My task is too great to even think about paradise any time soon. There are some very important mysteries that must be solved. Then maybe, just maybe I could retire in the jungle —away from all the craziness.

Now as I think back to the sorrow in Pops’ eyes, my dedication to fighting the darkness grows even more. However, there was much more than sorrow in his voice, and in his story. My question had been one full of naïveté. It was so simple, so child-like. I could not comprehend the magnitude of what he was about to say.

“We were tasked with protecting humanity from Darkness . . . The Ultimate Darkness. Every evil that has ever manifested in this realm can be traced back to The Ultimate Darkness. Some call it Chaos. It is called many different things in different tongues, yet they are all one and the same.”

I listened intently, trying process every single word. It was a lot to process. But somehow, I understood everything he said. It hit me in my heart like ringing bell of truth. Pops continued speaking and soaked it all in like a sponge.

“Over the millennia, it’s plots and schemes have shifted. It’s soldiers and operatives have changed. Even the tools it employs have evolved. However, it’s only goal is the utter despair and destruction of our universe.

This was some heavy news indeed. At the time, I wasn’t sure if I was ready for this answer. But it was too late now. I was all in.

There are many who have fought over the centuries. But my family, the Lolani, were one of the original warrior tribes. My ancestors were gifted with weapons of Light. Those weapons allowed us to banish the Darkness that threatened us all. We were instructed to stay vigilant, guard our weapons, guard our secrets, and pass this truth down to our children.”

At that moment Pops paused again, choosing his next words carefully. It was not until that moment that I felt it was alright to speak. I tried to encourage one of my only two friends in the world. It was a hard fact, but Pops and Likka were the only two souls I knew in the whole world.
“That sounds like a very important task Pops. I know you’ve always taken it seriously. I’m sure your ancestors would be proud of you. You and Likka have certainly helped to save and protect me.”

Pops’ only response was a small nod of gratitude before he continued his story.

“When the day came for me to lead my clan, I was thankful and believed that I could be a great leader. I knew in my heart that I had been chosen over my brother to lead for an important reason. I was prepared to make my family and The Creator proud. I did everything I could to take care of my family and all the members of our village. But, sadly there was one man who wanted everything I had . . .”

Adroit Comics, Capital City, Capital City Mysteries, Curtis Perry, New Arkton

It was a brisk afternoon as I walked through the busy streets of New Arkton. My mind was moving still piecing together information from the many stories I was working on. But wasn’t that always the case? There was always another mystery to solve, another cover-up to uncover. However, today I had more on my mind than just work.

I’m not big on talking about feelings, emotions, and other sappy stuff like that. My life is based on cold, hard facts. But even guys like me have a heart. This afternoon my mind was consumed with both family and personal life. Both of these issues were big deals to me, even though I rarely, if ever, took personal time. Maybe that’s the problem.

Yesterday I had a big argument with my girlfriend. At least I hoped she was still my girlfriend. After that argument, I wasn’t too sure. We’ve been dating for a while, but it just seems like we’re on two different pages in life.

She was in the news biz too. But she looked at things differently than I did. My goal always has, and always will be to bust open the secret files of government officials, military operations, giant corporations, or anybody who is up to no good. She simply didn’t feel that way.

“Ahhhhhh,” I let out a groan of frustration.

The streets were filled with plenty of people walking about. A lady looked at me strangely as she passed by. I just shrugged my shoulders and kept walking. Women could be so confusing at times.

Step by step, second by second, I made my way through the crowded streets. It was easy to get lost in the shuffle of Capital City. Some days I could just walk and walk, letting the sounds of the city drown out my frustrations.

As I drew closer to my destination, my mind shifted to the other situation at hand. That family issue I mentioned before. Well, to be truthful, I don’t have too much family to speak of. My parents have been gone for some time now, and my siblings and I aren’t the best of chums. Though we do try to stay in touch. My sister Savannah lives on the other side of country. We send letters ever so often, and birthdays are celebrated with a call.

To the contrary, my brother Dexter, lives right here in Capital City. Sometimes he’s around New Arkton, sometimes he’s in Collinsville. You never quite know where he’ll end up. Dex is what some people would call a drifter always moving around from place to place. We both spent some time in the military, but it affected us differently. And he’s had a rougher time about it than me.

But no matter where he may be, we meet for lunch every month, at the same diner. It’s been a longstanding tradition of ours for years now. We even sit in the same booth every single time, never fail. It was always good to see him, and know that he was alright, even if he didn’t look all that great.

As I approached the diner entrance, I could see him standing to the side waiting for me. He never tried to go in before I arrived. He was always too nervous. I walked up to him and gave him a warm brotherly embrace.

“Dex! My main man! How’s it goin’ brotha’?” I asked with a smile.

“Oh it’s all good, little bro! How’ve you been?” He replied.

His smile was a little crooked, and his eyes seemed glassed over. Something about him was different. I took a step back and gave him a good look from top to bottom. He looked better than I’d seen him in a while. His clothes, shoes, hair, everything looked clean.

“What? You didn’t get all dressed up on my account, did you?” I joked and punched his shoulder.

“Aww man, naw,” he laughed, though he looked a little embarrassed.

“Come on,” I said, “Let’s grab our table. I’m starving!”

He just nodded and followed me inside.

When we were seated, I had to keep from staring at him. Sure, he looked cleaned up, but something just seemed different, odd, strange even. Not that the fella had been this pillar of normalcy over the years. But I was used to his scruffy face, and far off looks. This new version of Dexter had me wondering what was going on?

We ordered our food, and talked about things like we usually did. Then he let me in on his big news.

“I’m a little nervous talking about it,” he said between bites. “I just don’t wanna jinx it, you know? But here it is, I got new job!”

That was big news, and of course I was happy for the man.

“That’s great Dex! What kind of job?” I asked.

He paused for a moment, and looked off into the distance as though he was in deep thought.
“You know, I’m not really sure what I’ll be doing. Something about clean energy sources. Right now I’m in their ‘Transitionary Intake and Training Program’.”

Dexter stayed frozen in place for a few seconds. I stayed still myself, trying to figure out what was going on with him. Then suddenly, his trance broke and he went right back to eating.

Chewing slowly, I took a deep breath. “So, what’s the name of the company?”

“You know what,” he said with a smile “I can’t even remember!” He just laughed, shrugged, and kept eating his burger.”

I just tried to nod encouragingly. With Dex you never knew what to expect. I hoped that something good could come out of this.

After lunch, I usually tried to give him a few dollars to help out. But today he refused.
“It’s ok little bro, I don’t need it. I’m alright.”

“Are you sure? Man you know, like I always said, I’m here for you. You can come stay with me anytime. I hope things work out good with the job and all. But you can crash at my pad whenever you need to.”

“And what do I always say? I don’t want to give you my problems Curtis. Don’t worry about me,” he replied with a pat on my back.

As he walked away, my big brother shouted, “I’ll see you next month, same time, same place.”

“You know it!” I shouted back. I looked forward to next month and hoped Dex would have more good news.

Capital City Gazette, Las Gracias Pandas, National Netball League

Watch out Netball fans! The Pandas are set to take this season by storm. Though the past few years have been rocky, Coach Eugene Hill is committed to rebuilding the Las Gracias Pandas back to their former glory. Fans may recall his press conference two years ago, when he expressed his frustration at their performance. It was that day he vowed, after 13 years of being the Panda’s head coach, to never have a season like that again.

The 3071 National Netball season was the worst season the Pandas had played in 20 years – 30 wins and 40 losses. Coach Hill was furious and made some huge changes that no one saw coming. Now, we’re embarking on the 3073 season, and Hill has totally turned the team around. Two years ago, at that very press conference, Hill predicted that The Pandas be the league champs in five years – or he’d give up coaching!

Some believed his words, though many snickered at the thought. But today, it looks like his vision may be coming to reality, especially with the team’s newest acquisition.

Nasan Khari is no stranger to any fan of the NNL (National Netball League). He’s held the title of League Top Scorer for the past two years. He’s been in the running for MVP, but hasn’t won yet. Some say this is because he’s yet to lead his team to a championship title. He came close last year, when the Sharks made it to the playoffs. However, their victory was swept away in the last game of the playoff series. What a tragedy.

Perhaps this story can have a happy ending. According to Khari, he’s always wanted to play for the Pandas. It was childhood dream of his to play for in Las Gracias, and for Coach Hill. Back in the day, Hill spent time volunteering at a summer netball camp that Khari attended as a youth. Since that day, he’d always wanted to work with Coach Hill professionally.

Khari was all smiles at his signing ceremony. we could all see another reason he was so happy. The lovely starlet and songstress Shontaé was on his arm, gleaming. There have been rumors circulating about these two being an item. Perhaps this proves the rumors to be true.

With this season’s line up, and Coach Hill’s expertise and bold coaching style, things are definitely looking up for the Pandas. Panda fans far and wide are hoping that Khari can bring his signature moves and bring big wins for Las Gracias.

ABN News, Adroit Comics, Capital City, Collinsville, Jamal McCall, Local Government

There are many people surprised at the latest news involving the United Paper Company. No one suspected that such a longstanding and respectable organization could stoop this low. Authorities were surprised to discover that the new management of the main office was secretly using the company’s resources, facilities, and trucks to move stolen goods.

Apparently the police were alerted by someone working within the company that the criminal conspiracy was taking place. The chief had this to say, “We’ve been following this operation for some time now. We’ve been gathering intelligence and evidence to put the wrongdoers away for a long time. We’re confident about that.”

Official reports indicate that millions of dollars worth of stolen and illegal goods were shipped and delivered under the guise of paper and stationary.

When asked about their suspects in the case, Chief Robinson answered, “Our prime suspect is the general manager of United Paper Company’s home office in Collinsville, Mr. Michael King. All reports and evidence point to him as the leader of this operation. Any citizen who has information to help lead us to Mr. King will receive a substantial reward. You can call any precinct with your tips.”

He went on to say that Mr. King had gone missing, along with several of his reported business associates. Though he has not been declared guilty without an official trial, his fleeing the city is not helping his case.

According to reports, it seems that many employees of the company are trying to protect Mr. King, and deny that he was the ring leader. But that’s not what the evidence suggests.

We will continue reporting on this case as soon as we have more information.

Capital City, General Blackheart, New Sienna

A not-so-quiet murmur of panic is taking over Capital City. Citizens and city officials alike are asking: “Who is The Militia?” A mysterious rebellion group has emerged in Capital City. From New Arkton to Las Gracias, this gang of ruffians seems to be on a mission to take over the underworld.

Their notorious tag has now become synonymous with their mission of disruption. Every time they finish a job, they vandalize the establishment with their moniker emblazoned on the wall in spray paint. For the most part, it’s seemed as though their only targets were enterprises of ill-repute like gambling houses, racetracks, and counterfeit rings.

The Militia has even gained fans from rabble-rousers who feel they could be trying to clean up the streets. Some believe the information filling The Militia’s propaganda pamphlets circulating around the city. Filled with sensational calls to rebellion and touting allegations of corruption and deception, these pamphlets have local and national officials in an uproar.

Some don’t know which side The Militia is fighting for. Are they fighting the bad, to help the good? Are they only concerned with their own gains? Is this a campaign to bring down the Royals, or merely a ploy to gain control of New Sienna?

The latest string of attacks from The Militia has been different from their previous targets. Every other week for the past few months, various branches of The Vonderdom Bank have been hit by this group of vandals. With locations across the region, this has proven to be a major loss for The Vonderdom family. Most specifically, Donovan Vonderdom. The Director and CEO of the bank.

Not much is known about The Militia, or their mysterious leader, General Blackheart. Some say that he is an ancient being who has traversed the world, wreaking havoc wherever he goes. Whispers can be heard in the underworld of Capital City about General Blackheart. He’s a highly feared man. Many believe that he has no feelings, no heart to speak of. It’s been said that somehow it was stolen from him, and now he’s doing whatever he can to get it back.

No one knows for certain who he is, or where he’s come from. But all who have met General Blackheart fear him. Except for one man . . . Crimson Hawk.

Capital City, Crimson Hawk, Hawk's Log, Max Norton

As the days passed by, I tried to focus my thoughts on rebuilding my health and fulfilling my destiny — whatever that might be. Likka was very adamant about me being the answer to their prayers, and the manifeStation of some prophecy. I can’t say that I really knew what she meant, but I went with it. Though it was a long while until I truly believed it. But the truth is, even now, after all we’ve been through, I still doubt myself.

No matter the pains I felt in my healing and training, none of it compared to the anguish of having no memory of my former life. But after some time, I became resolved to let it go. A new life had begun in the jungle with the rescuers who had become my family.

After more time passed, Pake’lika began to trust me. I even gave him a little nickname – Pops. With mouth that could barely move, that name was just too much for me. Though he still had his moments of uneasiness, he became like a gruff but caring father. However, Likka, the kind little lady who was fighting for me, acted like a mother from day one.

She nursed me with all the love and affection any mother could have, but I always saw sorrow in her eyes. I longed to ask her what made a sweet woman like her carry so much sadness. But I was afraid of the answer.

Slowly my speech came back fully. It took a while, but bit by bit, it got better and better. I was also able to walk, then run, and eventually fight. Before long I was running and training with Pops. Let me tell you, not one moment of that journey came easy. But it was worth every ounce of pain.

I had so many questions that I wanted to ask. But I wasn’t sure how. Then one day, I got more answers than I bargained for. It was a warm muggy night. Pops and I sat in front of the fire after Likka had retired for the night. He was staring at the fire, almost in a trance. Before I knew it, my mouth flew open and questions about their past flew out. I asked Pops about their life before they found me. I had no idea about my history, but at least I could know something about their’s. It was like I needed the past, even if it wasn’t my own.

Almost as soon as I asked the question, I wished that I hadn’t. His eyes became cloudy as he recalled their troubled past. I could see tears welling up in the eyes of my adoptive father. Instantly, it felt as though I’d over stepped my boundaries, but he reassured me.
“Do not worry Max. It is not your fault. It is time that you knew our truth.”
Slowly Pops wiped away his tears and took a deep breath. As we sat in front of the fire, it felt like I could see Pop’s face age just a little bit more. It was almost like the pain of the past was drawing on his very life force.

“As the years pass, you learn to live with your sorrow and to allow your heart to heal. The sun and the moon keep circling on their destined paths. This is the same for us. As time moves forward, so must we. To stand still is death to the spirit and death to our divine purpose. Many pains and trials come across our path. What must we do? Do we stop. Do we give up? Do we fall to our knees in surrender…”

“No! Of course not,” I replied.

“You are wise and brave young man. You have a fire that will do much good for this world. Of course you are no stranger to trials and pain . . . and loss.”

It was then that Pops voice trailed off as he stared into the flickering flames. I wanted to say something. But the silence of the jungle seemed to echo the pain in Pops’ voice. So I simply kept my mouth shut. When he began to speak again, his voice sounded different, in a way that I don’t know how to explain . . .

Capital City, Capital City Mysteries, Eboni Stone, New Arkton, New Sienna

The young Mrs. King was visibly nervous, but she pushed through.

“Well, you see, Ms. Stone, Micheal has always been a good man. Sometimes he may get a little ahead of himself with all his crazy schemes and ideas, but he’s a good man,” she finished with an awkward chuckle.

Michael King, Michael King? Eboni’s focus shifted away from what Cherry was saying. Our detective was sure that she’d heard that name before.

“Michael King,” she interrupted, “ Sorry to cut you off, but I’m sure I’ve heard that name before. Cherry looked over at her mother-in-law nervously.

Eboni continued to think aloud, “Hmmm, didn’t I hear about him on the news? That’s right. If I’m not mistaken, his name was mentioned in a story about a paper company shipping stolen goods…”

Suddenly the elder Mrs. Duke rapped her cane on the wooden floor, making a loud thud.“My son is innocent!” she said in a surprisingly loud voice. Eboni was taken aback. She could see that this woman was passionate about her son, his innocence, and his whereabouts. Eboni only hoped that there was a happy ending to this tale.

“Well ma’am, I can say this. I don’t know your son personally, but it’s clear to me that he has at least two strong fighters in his corner,” Eboni said with (what she hope was) an encouraging smile.

“Can we count on you Mrs. Stone? Will you help us find my son? I don’t care what those police, or those know-it-alls on that television set have to say about my boy! I gave birth to him! Don’t you think I would know what he is and is not capable of?!”

Mrs. King eyes were pleading, though her voice tried to have some semblance of decorum. Eboni could tell that manners and propriety were highly important to her. So the emotion that she was showing certainly pulled at the detective’s heart strings.

Eboni sat silently for a moment, wanting to be delicate about her next words. She knew she couldn’t say what she was thinking — that many criminals had mothers who couldn’t believe it was true. A sigh escaped her lips as she silently prayed that this son would be an exception. “Alright, she began, “ I can’t make any promises. But, I can disregard whatever I may have heard on the news and listen to your story. I just need you to tell me everything you know, even if you think it looks bad for Mike. I give you my word that I will do whatever I can to help. I take it, you’re confident that he is innocent?” she asked, though of course she already knew the answer.

Cherry’s eyes lit up. It was obvious that she had so much to say, but wasn’t sure where to begin. However, Mrs. Edith’s face held a shadow of embarrassment.

“Ms. Stone,” she began, “I’d like to apologize for my outburst. I’ve just been so upset by the entire situation!”

“I can certainly understand Mrs. King. No apology needed. Believe me, I want to help. Just tell me what you know and we can go from there,” Eboni replied kindly.

They both let out a sigh of relief, she could see that they believed her. It was good they did because she meant every word. Cherry opened her mouth and a floodgate came rushing out.

Every child indeed holds the potential for greatness. In each of us, there has been planted a seed to accomplish great things. If that seed is watered, nurtured, and loved, then the sky is the limit!

It is also true, that some beings have been implanted with supernatural powers – powers greater than many of us can even comprehend. Of course, one can dream of flying or running at the speed of sound. In our mind’s eye, we could possibly feel the wind in our face, or the exhilaration of the speeding through the city. But the true ramifications and consequences of such powers, those we can’t possibly understand.

Gabriella “Gabby” Cruz understands. Well, she’s learning to understand. Being a teenager is hard enough without knowing that you have to help save the world. But she’s up to the challenge! At least she hopes that she’s ready.

Born to an Adroit father and mother, Gabby has always known about her family’s legacy. It’s one she’s always been proud of, though she’s never been able to tell anyone. Her father is known as The Golden Bolt and is one of the fastest humans the world has ever seen. But his daughter is even faster than he.

Her parents often speak about her first speedy dash, when she was only five years old. She ran out of the door with so much velocity that her father had to run at almost full speed to catch her. Oh, how she squealed as she blazed through the wheat fields of their farm, leaving a streak of pink lighting behind her. That was the day she received her special name.

Turning into a young woman, Gabby has yearned to make real friends, with whom she can share her life’s biggest secret. That she is Pink Lightning, the sweetly pink, crime-fighting speedster, helping to protect the citizens of Capital City. She loves being an Adroit, but emotionally, it’s beginning to wear on her. She feels tremendous responsibility at such a very young age.

At fifteen years old, most girls are thinking about school work, their first date, and possibly wearing make-up for the first time. Gabby thinks about all these things, but she has the added stresses of trying to break the sound barrier and keeping the powers of darkness at bay. Add in an overly protective father trying to keep her safe at every turn, and she feels pretty overwhelmed at times. She hopes that one day soon, he’ll realize she’s not a little girl anymore. And that if she’s ever going to reach her full potential, he must let her run free.

But until that day, she knows that she’ll always be Daddy’s Little Girl. And it’s quite alright, since she’s not ready to grow up, just yet. Teenager or not, Pink Lightning is one powerful Adroit, who should not be underestimated. True light banishes darkness, and this young lady leaves a trail of bold and blazing light, wherever she goes

My eyes felt too heavy to keep open. I quickly fell into a deep sleep. What happened next had to be a dream, but it seemed too real.

I was walking down a city street. The children were out playing. A few dogs were barking. The sun was shining and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Man, it was a SPEC-TAC-U-LAR day!

As I continued to walk down the street, without a single care in the world, I look over to the middle of the street. I see a baby carriage. As I’m running over to the carriage, I thank the Father that no cars are coming. But I also wonder where in the world was the child’s Poppa and Momma?!

When I get to the carriage I see the most beautiful child smiling back at me. I immediately felt a peacefulness flow through me. I don’t think that I have been so full of joy in all my life.

As I played with the baby, it began to cry. Some how this beautiful child, who was so full joy, became so sad, full of misery, and apparently terror! For I minute I thought it was me, so I put the baby back in it’s carriage. That made the child scream to the top of it’s lungs. So I immediately picked the baby back up. After the child was back in my arms, I noticed that the streets were empty! The children were gone. There were no dogs barking . . the world was filled with silence. Suddenly, the sky started to turn red! I knew I had to get this precious child to safety, so I grabbed the baby and started running for dear life. I looked back and saw a sea of darkness taking over the city. The streets, the cars, the buildings were all being consumed by this wave of darkness. And it was gaining fast! I was running faster than I’d ever run in my life, but the darkness was still closing in on me. Just as the all consuming abyss was about to grab hold of me, I jumped up and sprouted wings!

I couldn’t believe it! I actually had wings! But the darkness wasn’t done yet. It morphed into giant black birds ready to devour us. One of the birds opened it’s mouth, and I saw what appeared to be a fiery lost soul trapped in the mouth of that hideously foul fowl.

I needed to get out of there fast and those wings were just what I needed to do it. I started to climb so high that the darkness couldn’t follow. I knew that if I kept flying toward the light, we would be fine. Then the strangest thing happened.

I heard a voice coming down from the skies above. It sounded soothing and familiar.
“Everything will be alright . . .”

To be continued.

New Arkton Sweeps into the League Championship Series: Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the National League Division Series. It turned out quite a bit different.

The New Arkton Bears swept aside the Dearborne Pilots to advance to the League Championship Series, winning the final game by a 5-0 score at Pilots Ballpark.

The series MVP was right fielder Raul Gomez, who hit .471 with a .550 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 5 runs.

“We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise,” he said. “But we’ll take it.”

The New Arkton Bears don’t know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the La Mirada Penguins – Capital City Monarchs series. Capital City leads the series 3 games to 2. The League Championship Series schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes.

Dear Editor,

Why is the National government even considering the proposal to drill on Isla de Marayah?
I understand we all need power, but it seems to me that good old fashioned wind and water power have been doing us just fine.

There are plenty of natural power sources that don’t require us harming the plane that sustains us. Our realm provides us with all the food, resources and energy we need. We should not be choosing to harm our home, only to meet our greedy desires.

How much power do we as people need anyway?
How many more machines will be built in the name of progress?
How many forests will be desecrated in the name of big business and financial prosperity?
When will the people’s voice really matter?

I challenge every Citizen of Capital City to unite in one voice to challenge the establishment and their destructive and corruptive ways!

We shall be heard!
There is no progress if the home of all humanity is destroyed. Together we must work together to save us all.

Love, Peace and Preservation,
Nature’s Champion

By Curtis Perry – Investigative Reporter

Royal General Donovan Vonderdom — a name that strikes fear in hearts of many men. He has gone down in history as the youngest Royal General to ever be appointed to the New Sienna Royal Guard. Though some speculate that his eldest son, Adonis, may be the first to break that record.

Pompous, demanding, and unyielding are words that some have used to describe him. Though the public at large believes he’s a hard-working royal with a heart for philanthropy. The truth is, he does a great job of putting his best foot forward to keep the public on his side. However, those closest to him aren’t quick to share their truest opinion of him, for fear of the consequences.

The VOND Corporation is one of the biggest companies in the world. With diverse holdings that run the gamut of industries, Donovan’s enterprise is beyond impressive. There are very few that rival his profit margin, and even fewer with same level of relentless pursuit towards success . . . No matter the cost.

Some attribute VOND Corps overwhelming achievements to Donovan’s keen business sense. Others say its due to his ruthless nature. Regardless of how the company has grown over the years, it takes hard work and dedication to stay on top. It seems like the retired general has a talent for making things happen.

His pockets run deep and his influence reaches further than most would believe. However, though he wants to be, he is not invincible, nor invulnerable. And he is certainly not all-powerful. Though he would have you believe that he is.

Donovan has seen more than his fair share of battle. To be honest, he misses the fight. He looks back on his days of combat with fondness and a sense of nostalgia. Those were his good old days. He is, without a doubt, a warmonger in the purest sense of the word.

Centuries ago, his family built their fortunes in war, battle, and weaponry. So it should come as no surprise that VOND Corp’s key projects fall into these areas of interest. However, the man is shrewd and posses a brilliant mind. His corporation‘s investments, acquisitions, and holdings are so complicated that even the most seasoned detectives could get lost in the search, and never find their way back to Donovan.

He’s got big plans underway with his sights set on higher profits and more power than he has ever gained before. However, things are not going as planned and the retired general is certainly not alright with that. It’s his way or his way, and that’s the way it always has been.

But times are changing, and someone has decided that they’re coming to bring down Vonderdom in a major way. He has made many enemies in his life, so the suspect list is far too long. The search for the party responsible for robbing his banks won’t be an easy one. However, that’s where those deep pockets come in handy. At least that’s what he thinks.

Soon Donovan Vonderdom will have to realize that money can’t buy everything, especially not protection from the Militia.
