Curtis Perry – Investigative Reporter

For the past 50 years, Jackson & Jackson Paper Co. has been a staple in the community. Founded in 3023 by Conrad Jackson and his older brother Darryl, this company has been providing quality papers products for businesses in Capital City. Many have reviewed the company, saying that they provide the best products at the best prices. However today their offices lie empty as highly damaging reports circulate around the city.

This afternoon, CCPD Detectives intercepted a shipment headed out of the country. Inside the shipping container that was supposed to carry finely milled stationary, officers found a plethora of stolen goods.

Authorities confiscated stolen weapons, jewelry, and other luxury goods found inside the shipment. This discovery was fueled by an anonymous tip called into the precinct. The tipster refused to share their identity with the police. This, of course, was understandable. Anonymous tips come into their precincts all the time. However detectives feel that this tip was somehow different.

It seemed like the informant had direct, first-hand knowledge of the crime being committed. It was far from your everyday call from a little old lady suspicious of her new neighbors. Furthermore, this discovery led to the seizure of many more shipments, as well as the home office located in New Arkton.

When asked about their prime suspects, authorities shared only one name, Micheal King. He was recently promoted to General Manager, and had access to the resources needed to carry the smuggling plan out. Though it seems like he was a likeable guy, all the evidence points to him being the ring leader of the operation.

Though King has not been officially charged, he is wanted for questioning in this case. If you have any information as to the whereabouts of Michael King, be sure to contact the Capital City Police Department today. We must all do our part to keep the streets of Capital City safe.

Capital City Gazette, Las Gracias Pandas, National Netball League

Watch out Netball fans! The Pandas are set to take this season by storm. Though the past few years have been rocky, Coach Eugene Hill is committed to rebuilding the Las Gracias Pandas back to their former glory. Fans may recall his press conference two years ago, when he expressed his frustration at their performance. It was that day he vowed, after 13 years of being the Panda’s head coach, to never have a season like that again.

The 3071 National Netball season was the worst season the Pandas had played in 20 years – 30 wins and 40 losses. Coach Hill was furious and made some huge changes that no one saw coming. Now, we’re embarking on the 3073 season, and Hill has totally turned the team around. Two years ago, at that very press conference, Hill predicted that The Pandas be the league champs in five years – or he’d give up coaching!

Some believed his words, though many snickered at the thought. But today, it looks like his vision may be coming to reality, especially with the team’s newest acquisition.

Nasan Khari is no stranger to any fan of the NNL (National Netball League). He’s held the title of League Top Scorer for the past two years. He’s been in the running for MVP, but hasn’t won yet. Some say this is because he’s yet to lead his team to a championship title. He came close last year, when the Sharks made it to the playoffs. However, their victory was swept away in the last game of the playoff series. What a tragedy.

Perhaps this story can have a happy ending. According to Khari, he’s always wanted to play for the Pandas. It was childhood dream of his to play for in Las Gracias, and for Coach Hill. Back in the day, Hill spent time volunteering at a summer netball camp that Khari attended as a youth. Since that day, he’d always wanted to work with Coach Hill professionally.

Khari was all smiles at his signing ceremony. we could all see another reason he was so happy. The lovely starlet and songstress Shontaé was on his arm, gleaming. There have been rumors circulating about these two being an item. Perhaps this proves the rumors to be true.

With this season’s line up, and Coach Hill’s expertise and bold coaching style, things are definitely looking up for the Pandas. Panda fans far and wide are hoping that Khari can bring his signature moves and bring big wins for Las Gracias.

Capital City Gazette, Isla de Mariyah, Local Government, National Government, New Sienna, Uncategorized

Dear Editor,

Why is the National government even considering the proposal to drill on Isla de Marayah?
I understand we all need power, but it seems to me that good old fashioned wind and water power have been doing us just fine.

There are plenty of natural power sources that don’t require us harming the plane that sustains us. Our realm provides us with all the food, resources and energy we need. We should not be choosing to harm our home, only to meet our greedy desires.

How much power do we as people need anyway?
How many more machines will be built in the name of progress?
How many forests will be desecrated in the name of big business and financial prosperity?
When will the people’s voice really matter?

I challenge every Citizen of Capital City to unite in one voice to challenge the establishment and their destructive and corruptive ways!

We shall be heard!
There is no progress if the home of all humanity is destroyed. Together we must work together to save us all.

Love, Peace and Preservation,
Nature’s Champion

In the land of New Sienna, there are many folks who like to bury their heads in the sand. Fearful of the truth, they go about their lives, desperately fighting to survive in a hostile world. Things always seem to be getting worse, as though all of the world is erupting in chaos. The bad news: Chaos is on the rise. The good news:, There is always hope.

My name is Curtis Perry, and I’m a reporter. Well, I suppose that I’m actually much more than a reporter. This curious life of mine began as the son of two mild-mannered immigrant farmers, haling from the Island of Keepaton. Very religious, they always told me stories of the ancient days. They were very certain about The Creator’s plan for our lives, and the existence of divinely appointed protectors sent to defend us all from Darkness. As a child, it was hard for me to truly understand much of what they taught me. It seemed so far-fetched. That was until one of those fabled protectors showed up and saved my family.

I was only ten years old. It was the middle of the night when our house caught on fire. I tried to wake my mother and father, but they’d somehow been knocked unconscious on the kitchen floor. I screamed for help and remembered what my parents had taught me. It was then that I prayed.

Suddenly it seemed as if everything stood still. The flames stopped flickering; I couldn’t even hear myself breathing. My line of vision became filled with a brilliant golden light. My senses were overwhelmed and I felt an unexplainable peace.

In the blink of an eye, I had been transported safely outside of our burning home. I looked down, and my parents were laying on the ground beside me. When the firefighters and police finally showed up, I told them my story.

Of course no one believed me. They chalked it up to adrenaline-induced-delusions. They also decided that I was the one who saved my parents from the burning building. That could be the only explanation, as far as they were concerned. Thankfully, my parents believed every word I said. The experience only increased their faith and mine. From that moment on, I was sure of two important things. Number one: The ancient stories were undoubtedly true. Number two: The powers-that-be had no intention of letting that truth get out.

Nine years later, in 3058, I was drafted into the Royal Military. Of course, yours truly wasn’t too keen on the idea of fighting someone else’s war, but I had little choice in the matter. It was there that I gained an even deeper understanding of the way things truly work in this world.

Its been 15 years since I left the Royal Military. Now I’m a single, disillusioned, retired soldier-turned-reporter. Frustrated, under-paid and over-censored, I am ready for a new chapter in my life. For so long, I’ve been fighting for the truth and working to make a difference in a city that doesn’t really seem to care. But I can’t give up now. One day, these words will be read by someone who dares to believe the truth. That someone is you.

Will you open your eyes to look beyond this superficial facsimile of reality? Or will you too be destined to live in the illusion? If you’re the former, then keep reading. If you are the latter, I suggest you turn back now. The road ahead is rocky and filled with impossibilities. It certainly ain’t for the weak of heart.

By Corey Roland: Political Writer

Are you a loyal supporter of Mayor Cornelius Johnson? If the answer is yes, you, my friend, are one of the few supporters he has left in town. For years there have been rumors of wrongdoing down in City Hall. But nothing has been proven in court. However, many lament the fact that Johnson could possibly for a third term as Mayor of Capital City. “Enough is enough!” The crowds have chanted as he drives by in his big fancy limousine.

Citizens have been hopeful that a qualified contender would enter the ring. Many believe that this newly announced candidate has what it takes to get that pompous windbag out of office. Just today, Hakeem Kema’Zu has official been added to the ballot. Nearly 20 years younger than Johnson, this young man has built quite the following.

Hailing from the tribe of Kema’Zu, one of the twelve Royal Families of New Sienna, his status could be a help or hurdle to his political aspirations. Royal lineage nearly always allows for special rights and privileges. However, it can also inspire disdain in public at large. However, it seems like this young man could be a special case. Charismatic and enthusiastic, he seems genuine in his desire to help the community-at-large — not just his fellow royals.

Some may question his authenticity, especially with public opinion of the Royals on the decline. But let us all hope that this Kema’Zu is what he appears to be — compassionate, confident, and all business. He’s been making some bold claims for his campaign — crime numbers going down, export tariffs going down, jobs and pay rates going up!

One thing is for sure, our polls report that 57% of the voters would rather see anyone in office besides old Corny Johnson! From what we can tell, Kema’Zu seems like he’s a stand-up guy. He has worked to make a life for himself, separate from his family’s wealth and influence. The truth is, if he’s able to keep only a portion of the promises that he is making, he’ll have accomplished more than Johnson has in all of his days in office.

Adroit Comics, Capital City, Capital City Gazette, Capital City Mysteries, Crimson Hawk, Curtis Perry, Eboni Stone, Guardians of New Sienna, International News, Local Government, Max Norton, National Government, New Sienna

The year is 3073.
The nation is New Sienna.
The city is, you guessed it, Capital City – “The City in the Center of the World.”

This metropolitan epicenter is renowned across the realm for its sights, industries, and sophistication. However, there is a darker side to this fair city.

The authorities are overwhelmed with all the calls reporting crimes of all kinds. It’s simply far too much for the Capital City Police Department to handle. Many people are realizing that they must do something to change things. And there are a select few who have what it takes to truly make a difference.

In such a huge city, there are many stories we can follow, but there are three that stand out from the rest: Eboni Stone, Curtis Perry, and Max Norton. Each of these detectives are on a mission to uncover the truth and bring the bad guys down.

Join us as we explore their tales, and discover what secrets the streets of Capital City hold.

Eboni Stone

Each and every person has their own tale to tell, many of which are filled with challenges. Some people fold in the face of adversity. Others might crawl into their shell, hoping that everything will get better. Eboni Stone is not one of these people. She’s been through so much in her life, yet she’s never given up.

A former CCPD officer, she left the force years ago after a tragic loss. Brave and dedicated to serving the community, she soon became frustrated with the ways things worked in the system. After turning in her badge, Eboni set her sights on serving the people in a different way. That’s when the Eboni Stone Private Detective Agency opened its doors.

She spends her days and nights searching for clues to solve her clients’ cases. With all her years on the beat, you’d think she’d seen it all. Ha! Not even close. Missing persons, stolen property, corporate espionage — the list goes on and on. That’s not even touching on the craziness with Hawk and her niece and nephew. But is she ready to solve the biggest mystery yet? Only time will tell.

Curtis Perry

The streets are filled with secrets. Curtis knows this to be true. He’s uncovered so many, he just can’t stop now. Everyday he beats the pavement, chasing down the clues to his biggest story yet! Tirelessly he does his best to expose the truth. Unfortunately, he and his editor don’t always see eye to eye.

Curtis is obsessed with fighting against Royal conspiracies, governmental, military, and corporate wrong-doings. However, the publisher of his newspaper could care less. The Capital City Gazette existed to please the advertisers . . . period. Furthermore, they would never publish any stores that could upset anyone too powerful . . . Or dangerous.

Curtis cares nothing about that. He’s on a hunt for two things, the absolute truth, and proof that Adroits are real. Though his paper may not want to publish the hard hitting stories, he’s making them public one way or another. He’s tired of playing games with these fools. Curtis has dedicated himself to exposing the truth to the free world. There are plenty of people who want him to keep quiet. But Curtis has never been one to do as he is told.

Max Norton

While most detectives are doing their sleuthing for clients, or to break some big story, Max has a more personal motivation for his work. His very existence is riddled with riddles. His life has taken more twists and turns than even he can remember. During the day, he is Max Norton, a simple, ordinary man who runs a tow truck company. But by night, he is Crimson Hawk, an anonymous defender for the citizens of Capital City . . . and beyond.

His cases are complicated and lead to bigger bad guys than most folks would want to tangle with. At times it seems like his adopted home is under siege. With crime on the rise, its becoming harder and harder to find exactly what he’s been searching for all of these years.

One of Max’s biggest problems is that he can’t say no if someone needs help. Even if it’s to his own detriment. But while he’s helping save citizens in the streets, he’s also tracking down the past that was erased from his mind almost ten years ago. But that’s one mystery that extends far beyond him. Max knows that this is one case that could impact the entire realm and change the course of history forever. He prays and believes that he is up the the task.

Braxton “The Bruiser” Jackson vs Jerome “Lazyboy” Mattius

It’s official and this announcement is hot off the press!

A new title fight has been scheduled between the reigning NSBA Heavyweight Champion Braxton “The Bruiser” Jackson and the IBL Heavyweight Champion, Jerome “Lazyboy” Mattius.

The champs will be going toe to toe in a unifying title match on the 13th of Hasha, at the Beckwourth Arena.

The winner of this exhibition will become the champion of both the New Sienna Boxing Association and the International Boxing League. This is a big deal for more reasons than one. There has never been a unifying title fight between these two leagues.

The streets are buzzing with rumors of the NSBA and IBL joining forces. Nothing has been confirmed thus far. However, the announcement of this crossover fight lends credibility to those rumors.

There are plenty of folks who’ve been asking for this fight for a long time now. We’re all used to seeing Jackson knocking his opponents out. A longtime boxer Bruiser’s record stands at 63-1. That’s 63 wins with a single loss. What many people don’t know is that his only loss, was his very first fight, to Rico Puticelli. And his first win was a rematch against Puticelli. It ended with his face on the mat, and Jackson’s fist in the air.

Though we’ve all seen Jackson’s skills in the ring, let us not discount his challenger. Jerome “Lazyboy” Mattius fought his way to the top of the International Boxing League fair and square. He’s a tough fighter, and he’s smart. Lazyboy seems worlds away from Jackson in many ways.

A young boy from Southern New Sienna, he’s working hard to save his family’s farm. You won’t find him in any of the glitzy clubs or philandering his way around town. He’s always training with his manager Earl Lanquille down in Las Gracias at the 7th Street Gym.

Lazyboy is focused, faithful and on a mission. Though Jackson might be the flashy fan favorite, he’s definitely found a contender in Johnson. When asked about his passion for the sport of boxing, this is what Jerome “Lazyboy” Mattius had this to say:

“I don’t like to hurt people you know? But I’m a really great fighter. Some have even said prolific. I don’t like talkin’ bout myself like that, but I’m trying to be truthful. You know what I’m saying? Sometimes I have dreams of being this great warrior. So you know, I’m just doing what I’m good at. I’m doing it for my family, period.”

When asked the same question, Braxton “Bruiser” Jackson replied:

“I love the thrill of the fight. I like to see the look of confidence in a young contender’s eyes, and turn it to fear, punch by punch. That’s where my passion lies.”

Well what do you think sports fans?
Who would you put your money on?
If betting were legal, that is!

This is going to be a tough competition, and only time will tell for certain. We’ll be keeping a close eye on both camps to keep you updated. There will definitely be much more information coming soon. So be sure to pick up the latest issue of The Capital City Gazette to make sure you don’t miss a beat!

Sirens could be heard all along South Las Gracias Blvd. in the wee hours of Saturday morning. Police were responding to an anonymous call from the Las Gracias Branch of The Bank of Vonderdom. The call reported a robbery in progress, however when officers arrived, they discovered a curious scene.

The night guards had been knocked unconscious at both the front door and vault entrance. When they were revived, they could not remember anything about the attempted robbery. But what police discovered in side the vault was even more puzzling.

Five men, who appeared to be the would-be bank robbers, were found tied up inside of the vault. They too were knocked unconscious. A huge shipment of freshly minted bills had been delivered to the bank only that very morning. The money was strewn allover the vault, as though the perpetrators were caught in the middle of their criminal deed.

It is believed that these men are tied to the criminal organization known only as “The Militia.” Had their attempts been successful, this would have been the fourth hit on Vonderdom Banks by The Militia in recent months. No one knows who they are, or what they are really after. When the officers were able to wake the crew of perpetrators, they tried to get some answers. But the robbers’ lips were steel traps.

Unfortunately, we still don’t have any real answers, because this case took on two more strange turns. When police went to review the security footage, all the tapes were gone. Detectives were left clueless as to who apprehended the perps.

Now, the police could get no info from the robbers on the crime scene. It was decided, of course, that they would be booked and interrogated at the precinct. The crew was loaded into the police van and headed straight towards the Las Gracias Police Headquarters. But much to their surprise and chagrin, the van was blindsided by the Militia. They had come for their compatriots.

Lucky for the police, no one was killed in the showdown, but needless to say, the Commissioner blew her top! She’s on a mission to find and bring down The Militia. Many people are wondering who they are, and we’ve had reports of curious phenomena surrounding this mysterious group of bandits. Now of course this could all be hearsay, but you never know. Stay tuned for details on The Militia Crisis and The Bank of Vonderdom robberies.

If need be, we’ll stop the presses to get the newest news to you first!

Ron Maroon – Business Editor

It’s that time of year again.

The Capital City International Business League has announced the entrepreneur of the year. Annually, this league of business men and women convene to vote one on the individual who has both contributed and accomplished the most over the previous fiscal year.

It should come as no surprise that Retired Royal General Donovan Vonderdom has won the award. This would be his sixth win since the league was founded only ten years ago. That’s quite a streak! Though there are many who might feel his popularity is due to his being the Founding President of the CCIBL, one cannot deny Vonderdom’s business acumen.

Royal General Donovan Vonderdom

Year after year, The Vonderdom corporation boasts exponential growth of which most entrepreneurs could only dream. The General has ensured that his corporations are diverse, forward thinking and effective in everything they do. And let’s not forget his tremendous philanthropic efforts, both locally in Capital City, across the nation of New Sienna, and beyond our borders, in the lands of Keyosha and Galatia, as well as his family’s homeland of Arkton.

His flawless military career undoubtedly was a great contributor to his current successes. In the history of New Sienna, as we know it, there has never been a more powerful, influential, or successful person.

When asked about his 6th win as “Business Man of The Year,” he had this to say:

“My family’s patriarch, Dorian Vonderdäm, was one of the founding fathers of our great nation. He is one of my inspirations, and it’s always been my goal to be make him proud. When faced with a difficult decision, I’ve often asked myself, ‘What would Dorian decide?’ The answer that follows has always been deliberate, even if some might have considered it ruthless. But what can I say, all is fair in war and business.”

We also asked Vonderdom how he felt about the future of The Vonderdom Corporation and its holdings.

“I feel very confident about our continued growth into the near future and beyond. The future of our company depends on great thinkers and ferocious spirits. Not just mine, but the brilliant and highly motivated, young minds that are coming up through our ranks.”

On a final note, We queried Vonderdom about his feelings on the recent string of robberies hitting his family bank. The General was uncharacteristically silent on the matter. It seems that was a sore spot for him, and understandably so. The loss of over 2.3 Million Dolaars is no small situation. We’ll keep our eyes open in anticipation of how this all plays out.

How will the six time Business Man of the Year rebound from such a loss?
Only time will tell.
